It's a two-part question:

What is the role of gamma radiation in the construction of a golf ball?

How can golf balls be so cheap, when it takes this many words to make them?

The gamma radiation is shown to crosslink the cover which improves scuff and cut resistance.

I don't want all the glory, so I will let someone else answer the second part.

Don't lie, you searched the page for "gamma" didn't you!?

Don't forget to mention that it has also been found to increase the crosslink density of the core and results in a harder and higher compression core and ball!!!
