3 wood

I'm looking for a new 3 wood. Anyone have any suggestions of a club to try (new or old)?

After looking at your current set-up, and carefully considering what I know and have seen of your swing - No!

Go try a bunch, and see what works for you.

sorry

More like, what are some people hitting? what are some good clubs to try? titanium vs. steel? etc.

The reason why I don't carry a 3 wood is because I can't find one that pushes my 2 hybrid (hit it about 220-235).

Have an R5 Dual, it was money but also had a V2 shaft laying around. Reshafted with the V2 and now it sucks. Seriously considering putting the stock shaft back in.

Also have used Cleveland Launcher Ti's. They are extremely easy to hit. But, I gave it to my dad. Might have to take it back.

Also looking into trying out the Big Bertha 2007 woods. Have heard good things about them.

I had a Tour Edge Exotics that was a great 3-wood. I'm also a big fan of the Titleist 904 and 906 series fairway woods.

Geek DCT.

For the money, you can't lose with a Geek DCT.

Other suggestions would be:

Tour Edge Exotics
Cleveland Launcher/Hibore
Callaway Steelhead III

Second the Tour Edge Exotics. I have a V2 in mine, and I had it cut to 42.5" to make it easier to hit off the deck.

Nothing wrong with looking for a 14-15° hybrid. Nickent makes great ones.

I'm currnetly hitting a G2 3 wood but have liked some Taylormade fairway woods I've hit (recently sold a TM R580xd 3 wood on the bay and previously owned an old Burner 3 wood with a Rifle shaft that was money from 250 yards but I sold it as well). As far as titanium vs. steel, I prefer steel. As much as I love large driver heads, I despise large heads in fairway woods. Titanium fairway wood heads tend to be large. However, the whole steel vs Titanium thing is all a matter of preference. sonartec makes some great fairway woods (but you will pay a bundle).

I'm going to a demo day event

this weekend. but I feel like that will be only the newest stuff and for a club I will hit 1-2 times a round, I can definitely settle for an older club.

I would love to hit that te exotic but it's hard to find a dealer.

yeah.. what Rock said.

TEE is very easy and long club.
cleveland is good.

if you're ambitious, you can try sonartec NP-99. or ss-02

I love my Nickent 4DX. The titanium crown gives it a beautiful/cool sound, and the face is mighty hot for a FW. At least compared to any other FW I've hit - I haven't hit the TEE which I gather is about as hot as it gets.

Twofast is basing the TEE on how much he hates seeing that headcover come off mine on the teebox. It's automatic fairway at 240yds., seriously though, I'm hitting over 75% of fairways with it and it's only slightly harder to hit off the deck as the tee. I've basically owner every TM 3W since the 200steel and the R7TP ti was the only one that could compete. That was more workable than the TEE but not quite as long and definitely not as easy to hit. Find a CB1, put in a shaft you like, no need to wonder, you have the best for the $$ by miles.

There are many of the original TEE 15° CB1 3 woods on fleabay for reasonable prices. Trust us on this. Even if the one you buy (I paid $40 for mine) has a shaft that is wrong for you, you can have it reshafted (V2 in mine for $60) and have a great club for under $150.

Yeah, CB1. I haven't hit the CB2 but have heard it's pretty much the same. I'd recommend buying one that has been reshafted with an aftermarket. I paid $60 for mine and was able to pull the aftermarket shaft and get the shaft I have in it now for free.
