Thread: Leupold Rangefinders

  1. Leupold Rangefinders

Has anyone used one or heard anything about them? I was thinking about getting a rangefinder with slope and the Leupolds are generally $50 cheaper than the Bushnells. But I don't know anyone that has one.

    Thanks.

    Leupolds cheaper than Bushnells????

You must be looking at the cheapest leupy and the most expensive bushnell...because leupold is regarded as one of the most top notch glass on the market and the prices show it

Any range finder is going to be pretty much the same, the mroe they cost generally you get more features/better quality...they all do the same thing and if you cant see the flag your SOL

  3. The slope edition of the Bushnell brand ($450) is $50 more than the slope edition of the Leupold brand ($400). I'm comparing the 2 models with similar features, but the Leupold goes further and actually recommends the club to use based on the distances you've entered for 3 clubs.

I know that Leupold is big in scopes and other things, but I have never heard anything about their golf line.

leupold gun scopes are the very best. I have no reason to believe that their golf scopes aren't just a s good.

the very best??? No...good yes, not the very best though

Swarovski trumps luepold by a big number adn i am sure there are better scopes out there than Swarovski.

OP: I guess i didnt realize they had a "golf specific" range finder, thats kind of cool that it suggests a club to use almost like your own caddy...now if it could only carry the bag and clean your clubs!!!

sorry, I meant among the very best. I know there are some others that are better. The main point of my post is that I would have no second thoughts on the quality of a leupold range finder

Anyone want to bet that the Bushnells (picture on the left) and the Leupolds (picture on the right) are made by the same company?

  8. I bit the bullet and purchased one of these. It's on its way, and my brother-in-law has the Bushnell version, so I'll compare the two when I get it.

I reckon it will work great. I still think a rangefinder is all the ranging technology anyone needs.

I know others sing the praises of GPS systems, but I've never had a situation where I said to myself "I sure wish I had a GPS instead of this rangefinder."

  10. Yeah, my brother and I are going to spend some time at the range with it dialing in our distances. I think it's going to be a useful tool.

The Leupold is the only one I believe that you can input your distances by club and it will tell you which club to hit.

I haven't read of any Bushnell's that do that.

    I'm leaning towards the Leupold.

    Price be damned.

I've found that phrase to be an oxymoron. I can't dial my ranges in using range balls. They just don't fly the same distances as my game balls. And I can't really estimate the difference.

  13. I go to the driving range at a really nice course that rotates their range balls through regularly. They always look brand new. There may be a difference in distance but it's too slight for a hacker like me to notice.

This weekend I'll post a review of the rangefinder, as I got to take it out Wednesday. I also took some pics of the course mentioned previously that I plan on posting, as well.

That's cool. The range balls where I go are absolute rocks. They fly much lower and shorter than my gamers.

  15. You folks are aware that you cannot use a range finder that provides more information than distance (i.e. no slope calculations and no club recommendation) for tournament rounds our rounds used to establish and maintain a handicap.
