TourSwing Renegade vs. MOI Intruder

I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out what the wifey did to the camera.

Tour Swing Renegade, 10º, Harrison Mugen No Limit stiff 60, Lamkin Crossline MidSize grip, playing at 45 inches. Okay, everything I'd heard about this head is true. Crazy long, pretty forgiving, VERY low spin, lots of roll out. And LOUD!!! I almost went with the 12º head, I'm glad now I didn't though. I have no problem getting it up into the air. The Harrison Mugen No Limit shaft is a high launch shaft and compensates for the low spin low launch of the Renegade. Paired together they produce a mid to almost high trajectory, okay, (I do swing up quite a bit with my driver, play the ball pretty far forward and tee it up half a ball above the head). But I had NO problem at all with ballooning at all, just a beautiful trajectory and loads of roll out. After warming up I was landing right before the 305 flag at the driving range and rolling them into the pond behind the range. I've never read any reviews on this shaft on here, I just liked what I saw and read and wanted to try it out. This is a sweet shaft, even though its only 60gm you can really go after it with no loss of control. My swing speed is over 105 and I was really going at it with this shaft and getting predictable placement. Swinging for the fences I was still landing most shots within 30 yards of each other left or right. The face is slightly closed looking at address so I weakened my grip up just a tad to get a straight ball flight, strengthened it slightly to produce a draw.

MOI Intruder 10.5º, Creation Xperimental Pro Tour Only Rust (80)?, 1 0f 500, Lamkin Crossline midsize playing at 45 inches. This one was a complete surprise, in more ways than one. It too is listed as a low spin head and it lives up to that listing. Neutral at address with a cup face design, traditional shape it inspires confidence. Nice gloss black finish that looks great with the rust colored Creation shaft. The review for this combo could be the same as the one for the Renegade other than the sound and required grip. The Creation is butt thick so unless you have large hands you really don't need a midsized grip and with the neutral face I didn't have to weaken my grip to avoid a hook. The sound is a much more subdued than the Renegade but the results are almost identical. Nice mid-high trajectory, no ballooning with loads of roll out. Even though this shaft feels quite stiff, it has nice kick as it unloads. Very confidence inspiring and you can REALLY go after it also. Tight shot placement with this combo as well.

IMHO you can't go wrong with either of these. My ONLY complaint is the complete lack of a alignment aid on either of these heads, no dot, no line, no logo, nothing, just a smooth black finish. But that is minor and easy to get used to. Hope this helps someone out there.

Good review! How do these compare to the drivers in your sig? Are they kicking them out?

Good question, it will take more research,

The only one I see as safe at this point is the HiBore 9.5 Matrix Combo, and with the hook I've been hitting with it even as good as the Matrix shaft feels, it is in danger. The head at least. I do want to compare them with the Maltby CT250's, both the 10.5 V2 combo and the 9.5 Solutions combo. I think my swing has surpased the closed face on the regular HiBore XL, I think I need something neutral or fade biased, not closed now. Both of these seem to fit the bill, time will tell.
