Thread: New Driver

  1. New Driver

I'm about to ho another one...

Been playing long enough with one of the least forgiving drivers known to man. The new one should be a little easier to hit. I never would have considered this thing. I saw it at the shop today and this head looks awesome at adress. Looks like no more than 400cc's. I went home and low behold there was a massive thread on WRX about this thing. Guys are killing it.

What shaft are you gonna fit into it? You should stick with your SuperQuad get it dialed in a bit more and reap the rewards
It's a 1st run FTi - Tour Issue he says.

I'm hoping the stock YSQ tour AD will be good. It's been described as a tighter Pershing. I'm playing an original QuadTP, not the Superquad. Hitting my boss's Superquad the other day sort of played into my decision to go back to more forgiveness though. I put a swing on it that I truley believe would have been a toe pull hook with mine and it was a just a big ol 270yd. draw sweeping from right rough to the left side of the fwy. The quadTP is a cannon but man I pay dearly when I miss it. Two more fwys. per round with driver distance is going to make a big difference in score for me the way I've been playing. I'm finally starting to swing more consistantly and hitting par 5's in 2 again. All I need is a chance for any club from the fairway really.

Until the next one, and the next..............and the next

  9. Bah, forget it. They are on backorder, going to take over a month to get one. Cripes, in a month I'll be able to get one for $150.

Looks like the QuadTP is safe. Going to change the midsize grip that it came with to a regular one though. Might play a miniscule role in the blocked shots. It's ready for a new grip anyway. In the meantime maybe they'll take one out of the plastic at the shop so I can hit it.

I don't see why you don't just go with a Geek or some other component.

Pick your face angle, actual loft. Geek is low spin, I don't think you'd be disappointed.

why do you say the R7 is not forgiving?

Because it either carries 280 down the pipe or need a weed whacker as club #14 to find it. Thankfully Twofast is playing a J33R 420 so I don't look too bad, lol. You'd be hard pressed to find 2 drivers longer and less forgiving than those 2.

Yes and he likes the Rough - pull hook paradise!!!

Go back for a SuperQuad or Burner TP there the ones you've liked best in the past. Get one and sttick with it, I've had the L4V for a while now and it's getting better and better - Sure I've been tempted by others & I've picked up a R7460 TP, MP600, Titty D2, Cally FTi & Cobra Pro D's but they've all been sent packing.

I've still got the Titty as it's my old driver from last year with the BiMatrix shaft. I loved it last season but sold it to a fella at our place. I've just sold him a new driver this week and got the D2 back in exchange. I took it out today head to head with the L4V. When I hit them both well there wasn't much in it. I hit 2 drives on the 8th one with each driver both went roughly 315 yards and were side by side in the centre of the fairway both nice towering high fades. However when I missed the centre of the club face the Titty lost about 50 yards and found rough were as the L4V lost about 15 but still found the short grass or semi at worse.

My biggest problem now is my lust for hoing has switched to putters. I have a Spalding TP Mills classic that I putt better with than anything else but it looks old and crap and I'm very Vain when it comes to my clubs. Performing well isn't enough to warrent a spot in my bag it has to look good as well. I ho'd a Circa 62#1 as it's a simlar shape but it didn't perform as well so thats gone. I switched back to a Scotty Bullseye blade but that didn't cut the mustard either. So today I picked up a Nike Unitilzed Retro. Only played 9 with it but things are looking good - same shape, simlar performance and looks good as well however the headcover is shit!!!
