Cheap Big Spin

Hey mates! I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I swear I went over every equipment thread and couldn't find it.

I usually play with Nike's One Platinum since I can find them quite cheap (around $28 dozen), but in some ocean side courses I still loose quite a few balls, and I want to play easily and stop worrying about searching for them or breaking my pocket.

I'm looking for a very cheap ball (under $20/dozen, or even less if possible) with a lot of spin, even if that means sacrificing a lot of distance. I have very little experience with brands like Bridgestone or Srixon for example. I've tried the D2 Feel which I hated (Its like hitting a popcorn). After, I played with the Nike Power Distance, and its my best shot for now, but I don't know if there is something better out there which I might have missed.

Any recommendation?

Thank a lot mates...

King Par is an unknown quantity at this point
Well, those would be my two recommendations. My only other one would be the Precept Laddie-X or the Maxfli Noodle Ice. Good luck on your search.

You'll be hard pressed to find a ball than spins a lot, yet has a firm feel, without spending some shekels. You might try finding Maxfli Black Max. It's a premium ball discontinued not too long ago. Very solid, and if you can find them, you can get them cheap now.

the D2 feel and the nike power distance were going to be my suggestions

Top Flight Strada's can be had for cheap(if you can find them that is) and they spin very well with nice feel. Get the "tour" versions though like tour ultimate or tour professional...i have played both and i find both to be great balls...

They are however discontinued and are becoming harder and harder to get ahold of. I find mine at walmart in the used ball boxes...not very often, but you get lucky every now and then...so far i have found 5 boxes and i check every time i go to walmart about once a month or so...

Good luck

If you can still find them, the Nike TA2/SPN has a ridiculous amount of spin (more than any I have ever seen, and too much for me) and could be found for under $15. But they may be hard to find now. "Distance" Balls (or even "straight" balls) and spin do not usually go hand in hand, usually part of what makes it such is the lack of spin.

edit 1 - Maxfli Tour Revolution was a great one that rated high in spin, but probably just as hard to find. Used to have a link that listed them by category, but they changed to a pay site. Callaway HX Blue had a lot for a cheaper price.

Well, you can always go wound:

NEW TITLEIST DT WOUND 90/100 GOLF BALLS - ONE DOZEN NEW - eBay (item 170233965588 end time Jul-04-08 19:24:16 PDT)

Prepare yourself for some distance loss, but they do feel good coming off an iron.

Maxfli Tour Fire are $16 a dozen at my local Golfsmith... my favorite cheap spinner, and one of my favorite balls overall too.

Srixon AD333 is also in this category as well, and can be had for the same price.

Not sure if you can get these down under... but worth a look. I would say that the Tour Fire is the Fernando Torres of golf balls, for no other reason that I like Torres a lot, great player.

Bought Maxfli BlackMax from Lostgolfballs.com, for about $5 a dozen (second class quality) and its a great bang for the buck. I can barely tell they are used.
