True. But, I've seen my share of people that could hit it 300-320. I've seen almost none that could hit it 300 and hit more than 2 fairways.

I played with a d3 college player on Wednesday. 280-295 down the middle, all day long. It really was something to see. But, he couldn't putt to his handicap. Real shame, ballstriking of a +4, putting of a 6-7. That equals a 2.4.

My buddy, who used to be a pro, is exactly the same way. He plays X stiff shafts in all his clubs and can hit it straight or with a little draw all day long. I have been trying to convince him to go to an S flex with a firm tip in his woods as I don't believe his SS warrants an X-anyway thats off topic. It sucks to see someone hit it straight down the middle, 15 ft from the flag then miss the putt- over and over again...

I know that you could get a ping G10 in a 7.5 degree loft..jus like the titleist..but you'd also get more forgivness..and i have a question..whats you SS if your averaging 310 off the tee its gotta be around 130mph..cuz i average around 295 with a 118mph SS

Not sure.. i haven't had it measured recently.. before i played on my high school team when i was 16 or 17 i think i had it measured at where your at 118, and im 24 now.. ill have to do that at some point... probably going to need new clubs soon.. going on 6 years with my revolutions.. eyeing the tour RAC progressive cavity/musclebacks.. so maybe when i get fit for those

I had a demo 8.5 with aldia(i didn't read it too carefully but its baby blue and middle of the road for price) for a few days while I was getting my Taylor 320 7 degree re shafted with a ys-6.

I could swing my ass off at the ball and it would go straight down the right side of the fairway because i'm used to playing a draw, but.. like i would have to reallllllly over do it to hi a draw or fade. This is really nice for me.. but it was coming up consistently 20 yards short of where i'm used to hitting it.. mostly because it would just balloon up in the air because of the loft and stop right where it hits. But I have to say that it was dang hard to spray a shot with the club, so .. i suppose I could get used to the 310 yard distance.. but its not going to win me any long drive contests.. i dunno.

Sorry i made that sort of a run on explanation.. block of text attack.

Three big things to think about:

A) What was your demo? Some clubs launch higher than others, perfect example is the FT-i. I'm using an 8.5, but its a high launching head, and I am swinging an average of 115. The 310 is fairly high launching as well, I had an 8 in it and still couldn't stand how high it went. Food for thought.

B) What shaft? This has been said, but kickpoint and flex make a huge difference. Perhaps try the UST V2? That thing is low launching if there ever was one.

C) Though less concrete, I don't think there is one pro on tour using anything below an 8. Its not sensible. Especially when you can make it up in a shaft.

Actually Bubba Watson uses a 7.5 degree Rapture and Sergio uses a Tour Burner TP bent to 7 degrees marked at 8.5

Try a older XL in the same loft with a low launch shaft and see how that works out for you.
Threadjack - I'm totally digging that XL you sold me. I'm swinging my driver with confidence right now. That XL head is a winner.

The XLS is designed to be a high spin head plain and simple. The hibore xl is a very low spin head. I think cleveland made the XLS for high handicapers with low swing speeds that need more spin. If the ball ballooned on you with the XLS just try the XL and i bet you get better results. When i went to demo drivers last time I was at golf smith the XL had the lowest spin of all the drivers I tested I had to go with a 10.5 to get the launch up.

Glad it's working for you. I keep going back to my 9.5 XL Matrix combo, no matter how many drivers I buy. That 10.5 I sold you felt great too, just a little too much loft for me.
