Callaway I/IX series balls

Anyone playing these balls? I tried the IX and liked them alot. I'm looking for something a little softer around the greens, so I'm gonna give the I series a try.

Anyone have any experience with them?

I've played half a round with the ix 3 times now - find one on hole 3 where everyone loses one to the right and I'm the only one dumb enough to go in there ball hunting, then play it until 13-14 where I typically lose one either in the woods or the water. Absolutely love them, I just haven't bucked up and bought a box yet.

i had a short run with the ix balls. took them out to get a feel for them around the green. did some chipping and putting. when i got home i took a look at them and noticed the paint was coming off so i returned them back to the store.

Freak happenstance.

I'm using them in some tournaments now, and in this last one for the last 2 days, and loved them.

The iX anyway, LOVED IT!

If they weren't getting the same price now as the ProV1x's I'd try them. I've had good luck with the B330S and the ZurS so far.

They're 8 dollars a dozen cheaper than ProV's here. $6 cheaper than the ZURC.

I really liked the IX, but the I is supposed to be a bit longer off the tee. We'll see on Wednesday.

I also bought some ProV1x. Don't tell anyone.

See, I've heard that the IX was longer. I was bombing the hell out of it.

See, this was my thinking too. Guy at the shop tells me it's opposite of the ProVx, with the X from Cally being their "ProV" ball, while the "I" is just like the ProV1x, where you need higher swingspeeds to compress the ball to get:

"The lower compression inner core provides low spin off the driver for great distance while the higher compression outer core provides high chip-shot spin around the green."

I'll see this week. I really liked the IX, but wasn't getting the distance off the driver that I was out of the ProVx.

Those guys in the stores don't know jack s**t about the balls. I had one guy in one store tell me the S at the end of B330S stood for soft and another guy in another store said it stood for spin. Duh...

That covers the bases. The S actually stands for both.

Am I correct that the Tour I is the "softer" feeling of the two?

In other words, if I play the HX Tour 56 then that equates with the Tour I?

If I'm right that would make the Ix the harder ball, just like the Pro V1 and V1x.

The I has the harder to compress core, and is softer on the outside. Long off the driver and softer around the greens an putting, just like the 56 as you mentioned.

The IX is harder on the outside, but softer on the inside, making it an all around average ball in all regards. Some guys like the feel to be the same off all their clubs.

I loved the 56, so i'm hoping this is the cure to my current woes.

Thanks for the info.

I have a ton of Tour 56's left over from my last lostgolfballs.com purchase but when they are gone I'll try the Tour I. I'm in no rush because I love the 56.

Me too. I bought 6 dozen HX/56 for $70 in fantastic shape this spring and couldn't be happier, but the ho in me always likes to try what's new from Callaway in the ball department.

I'll keep you posted on my findings. From the reviews, I'm hearing the ball is fantastic, but durability is like the 2006 offerings. Not cool.
