Paint on a Shaft?

I went out for a round today, and got paired with a guy who had a coca-cola themed club. Red with the Coca-Cola ribbons around the shaft, and a big bottle cap painted on the bottom and top of the driver (not sure what the club was, looked like a generic junker)

For the record, the club was disgusting looking.

I was just wondering how you would paint a shaft, and whether or not it would affect playability. It looked like a hand-done job, as the graphics weren't real crisp. Would be neat if you could give a shaft a paintjob
