Jumped on the Scotty Bandwagon

Today I was looking on ebay for the Odyssey Marxman blade. I really like the alignment aid it has protruding from the flange. I come across the SC Detour Newport 2. The current bid was $113 or something, so i bid $126 and go to this thing for work. Come home, and miraculously win it for $140 shipped and in "almost perfect condition." Im really looking forward to this.

I like the Newport DeTour. Have demo'd it in the shop a few times and it feels good and is very easy to align, I also like the original DeTour as well. Great Pickup

Quite the score!

I don't see that model out an about all that much but, like MG, I've tried it and am a fan.

The detour was a big letdown for Scotty. It was meant to keep up with the MOI putters and the 2ball but it sold terribly and looked fugly.. Personally i wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole

Not to say that i dont wish you the best with it. Plus if you give it a good try and hate it, like all scotties it will hold its resale very well..

But the "Newport" Detour IS different that the original Detour... vastly different iirc.

Try this... first day you own it, hit a putt on the carpet with your eyes closed.... if you hit the sweet spot, the feel that travels up the shaft into your hands it great. Removing the visual aspect only heightens it!

I think they look like the unfortunate spawn of an unholy alliance between a two ball and a Newport.

this is one of the reason why i took out my sightline and added a sight dot instead. my putter never felt so good.
