Is there a way to pull a graphite shaft at home?

I want to reshaft my Tee 4 wood, I could care less about saving the OEM thats in it now. I remember seeing something about a gas stove and a oven mitt, but mine electric, . Could I just cut the old one off at the hosel and drill it out? Has anyone tried this? If so what were the results?

Red face

I believe the stove and oven mitt is more formally know as the Ezra method. If you have a butan torch...like the one you would use for plumbing, you could just heat it up with that and then gently twist the head off. I did my TEE 4 this way and then reshafted with a V2. Pretty simple. I'm sure Ez will be along shortly to explain his method.....

You can just put the shaft in a vice and heat it, pulling the head off with a gloved hand. Or, you can just cut it off and drill the remainder. I think that cutting and drilling is easier.

I just did my TEE 15* head, with a V2 as a matter of fact. The first effort I heated the shaft and pulled it out. WOrked great but took some of the finish off of the clubhead, I heated to hot and to fast-my fault. NO biggie though I just touched it up with a paintfill pen I got fromt the Golfworks. The second time I cut the shaft and drilled out the rest. Took a little longer but did not have to worry about repainting, actually think it worked a little better. This may be the way to go if you don't care about the shaft that is currenly in it now. If you do care about the shaft, go to a pro or somebody that has a shaft puller.

I have done it both ways and cutting the shaft is the best way if you don't have a puller. When I tried heating it up and pulling it by hand it was a big mess the shaft started breaking down. When I cut it out I used the EZ method, I just used a steak knife and drilled the rest out.

Cut and drill. Don't screw up the paint.

Thanks everyone. I figured it would be ok to cut and drill, but I wanted to make certain.

Yeah, cut and drill. The stove is fine but it heats the club up a hell of lot slower than a torch. I've never burned paint on any club. I've saved about 75% of the shafts I've pulled with the stove, step on it and yank method.... I have, however, melted the soles on a pair of Nike running sneakers.

mddubya, if you're ever over this a way, bring'em and we'll use my hydraulic puller. We'll have them done in 5 minutes or so.

Then we can go play golf.

Thanks for the offer Siberian, but hopefully I'll have it reshafted by the time I get a chance to head that way. I would like to play a round or two with you sometime though.
