Silly question time (reshaft help)

Just recently picked up an '07 TaylorMade Burner TP for a tidy price. I'm thinking that I might pull the UL780 from my Titleist 905 S to whack in this. The problem is my Titty's a bore-thru and obviously the Burner isn't.

Is it any sort of problem to pull this out and use as it's already tip prepped for a bore-thru? Will the tip prep show up above the ferrule, etc?

Thanks in advance,

LH

shouldn't be a problem as long as your clubfitter can get the UL780 out without damaging it - but you won't be able to put the shaft back in the titleist after it's trimmed for the TM

Ahhhh,

Thanks Rick, that was going to be my next question. Bugger, what a dilemma! What do I do now?

all hope is not lost.... I have no first hand experience with bore through's, but I've read about converting them into blind or standard bores. Basically, remove the UL780 as you normally would, then tip trim it to fit the new standard bore head.

If you decide you don't like it and want to put it back into the bore-thru head, get a cheap sacrificial shaft and have it installed in the bore-through. then, cut it off at the hosel and drill it out to the standard bore depth (leaving the sacrificial shaft to fill the bottom of the clubhead )
- i think it will play the same then

That sounds very interesting and like it would actually work. Thanks for the help. Not to offend you Rick, but can anyone else chime in on this method and verify it?

And how deep is a standard bore?

Very helpful. You've been an absolute champ Rick. Thanks very much. Now I just have to convince my clubmaker to do this. And find the sacrificial shaft....

that part shouldn't be too bad - of course, I say that having no idea what any of this will cost you, but the sacrificial shaft should be a piece of cake - any old pull would work just fine - heck, even a broken shaft that the clubmaker has laying around could work

keep us posted
