$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

why would a manufacturer pay more for a quality shaft and slim their profit margins when they could get a crappy one for less and charge the same and still have a good percentage of the general golfing populus not know the difference....

Depends which shaft and if it's a good fit for you. Some stock shafts are aftermarket brands. Most are made for "amatuers" (god I hate that term) so they just figure everyone hits slicing wormburners with an 86mph. SS.

Im hitting the stock stiff shaft in the Tour Burner, last time I was on the monitor I was swinging about 105mph which was a couple months ago, might be a little higher now with a better swing. Im actually hitting it pretty good. If I can get a better shaft with some more kick im all for it.

Bingo. In both my driver and my 3-wood, I tried several shafts and liked the stock ones the best.

I've upgraded all my shafts in my woods and can tell a lot of difference. Both my HiBore XL's had the stock stiff shaft in them and I was hitting balls all over the place. Shop around for a good deal on a couple and see what suits you best.

The stock TFC 129D shaft in my Ping G10 is an excellent shaft. But I find this is an exception to the norm.
