Post Cleveland Hibore Irons

I am looking to replace my custom made irons that I have had for the past 10 years. They have been good to me and I have had many a great rounds with them. I have seen lots of guys moving away from the blade type of irons and going to the wide sole or hibryd irons lately. What are your thoughts. My partner just bought the Tour Edge Bazooka irons and I have been looking at the Cleveland Hibores. I have been a long time fan of Cleveland Golf equipment and trust they have a good product but will I be happy with the hybrid irons vrs blades?

I hit a hibore 6 217 yards with no wind and no help from the fairway.
I normally hit a 6 about 170 so take that for what its worth.

I like the hibores a lot, and would play them if they fit in my bag. you also can't shape them, but im not very good at playing those type of shots anyway, so i was happy when they only went straight.

That is nice to hear but are the Nickent clubs you have wide soles? I am concerned that I will not like them after all these years of playing normal blade type irons. Many of the people out there I have spoken to say that these are great for getting more height out of the ball and correcting off ballance or poor shots. I have not had that as an issue but at the same time it seems as though this is the future of Golf and I dont want to be left in the dust.

I don't like hybrids but I like the hibore irons

My Wednesday partner keeps handing a hibore iron to me whenever I hit a bad shot. I hate to admit it but I hit them fine and I have no idea why. I have tried two other hybrids and hated them but Cleveland has a winner here.

Daughter bought a set of Cleveland HiBore irons this year. She's a beginner with little time for the game. Needed to play just enough to participate in some corporate outings. She cannot believe how easy the HiBores have been to hit. Has seen some of her shots used in scramble formats. You couldn't pry them from her fingers.

Personally, I cannot seem to play irons with the wide flanges. But, that is a mind thing with me. It seems like we see more and more of the hybrids and a few more of the hybrid style irons every day. I guess, I would assess my game. There are a number of manufacturers who are marketing "blended" sets of hybrid style long irons and more traditional short irons. Some believe the accuracy of the more traditional irons design might be compromised with hybrid short irons. Others like the transition of an entire set of like design irons from long iron to short iron.

You have mentioned some really important items. You have confidence in Cleveland as a manufacturer... that confidence will go a long ways to make your game with the HiBore's successful. You have seen your buddy play well with the Tour Edge set of hybrid irons... that, also, will instill the confidence needed to play a similar set.

Sounds like you're on your way to drop some bucks on a great new set of Cleveland HiBore irons! Play well!!!!!

I did play the HiBore irons for a while. And everything that has been said is true for the most part. They are hard to hit a bad shot with, unless the ground where you play is hard. In that case, it's impossible to take a divot with the wide sole. And you can NOT shape a shot with them. If you enjoy bending the ball around line of trees or around a corner, you can forget that with the hybrid irons. Also, they are cast, so adjusting the lie is out of the question as well. All that being said, they are long and straight. They may be just what you are looking for, they just weren't my cup of tea.

you can get a combo set like i got if you want a combination of hybrid and more traditional irons. I have been playing less than a year and they made a lotta difference from my slazenger set of clubs i owned previously.
