Thread: Swapping Shafts in my iron set

  1. Swapping Shafts in my iron set

I currently have two sets of irons. Titleist 704.CB with the NS PRO 970 shaft. Titleist website says its a .355 taper tip. My other set is a Mizuno MP30 with Dynamic Gold S300 .355 shaft.

I was just wondering if I could swap the shats between the two sets of irons. I am playing the MP30s and like the NS Pro shaft cause its lighter and I get a good feel with it. I just like the feel of the MP30 head.

    Thanks.

I can't answer the question, but I just had my DG S300s swapped for DG S300 lites with sensicore added -- to both close the weight gap and hopefully provide a little vibrational dampening. It did take a while for True Temper to make this configuration. Overall the weight is a little less, and I really like the way the new shafts feel.

Lighter shafts are not always a good thing for irons, but I am surprised I like my new ones so much. I hope you can try it and it works out well for you. I don't know the insertion/hosel depths for your irons but if it's the same, go for it. Surely someone here who does this can answer better than I have. I just know I changed and so far am happy.

Same tip size. Swap em, and good choice with the mp30's.
    what is golf?

  4. Thanks for the input, so the taper tip wouldnt matter? I heard some say it would so I wasnt sure.

  5. The only way you could run into a problem here is if the bottom bore to ground measurement is different on the 2 head styles. You may end up with clubs slightly shorter or longer than the ones you currently have.

Not sure what you mean. Both of the shafts are .355 taper tip.

  7. shafts might not come out to be the same length

The shafts in the titleist may sit deeper in the hosel than the Mizuno or visa/versa. you might have to adjust lengths. I have done this kind of swapping. I prefer Hogan shafts for wedges. Ping/hogan shafts should also work.

  8. thanks, I think I will go for the switch than, just have to make sure I get the correct measurement in as far as lengths go. Now I have to learn how to pull the shafts and do it myself, as I got some prices on swapping the shafts between the irons and they are going to cost me an arm and a leg.

Look for a used or cheap shaft puller and learn how to do it yourself.

I'm looking to do the same with my irons sets.

I have S300's in my CB's, and Rifle 6.0 in my MB's. I also have a set of PX 5.5's I'm tempted to toss in one of the sets, probably the MB's.

If it's alot to get your irons re-shafted(and I don't know whats considered reasonable), then do it yourself if you can.
