Ozik Code-6 vs Protopype

Currently play an L4V-X with Protopype 60S tipped .5" playing at 44.5". Am looking to move to the L5V and really would like the X-speed 8.5˚ due to the open face. The only problem is that from the reports I've read - it launches a bit lower than the L4V does, and so, going from 9 (not sure the 'actual' loft) to 8.5 may well cause me some problems.

I was thinking that if I put a slightly higher launching shaft in - that might help counteract it. I have a Code-6 in my Burner TP 3 wood - which I love, and just wondered what you all thought of my reasoning!? Am I on the right track here at all?

Biggest problem is that I can't demo the L5V-X version - so have only hit the 9.5-F - which launched about the same as my L4V-X 9˚.
Do you think that the Code-6 will help alleviate any significant reduction in launch angle?

My SS is approx 100-105, my best drives carry about 250+, rolling out to 270-280+. I have a very long swing - pretty aggressive, and a bit all over the place at times - but when I'm on, it's generally pretty straight - medium height.

thanks

in shaft verse shaft. yes the code 6 will allow for a higher launching flight. if you are really worried about it- the xcon 6 is a better option. and really what i suggest. tigher tip feel also. which may work out best for your aggressive swing. be glad to help.

The pype is eaxactly that a pipe. One of, if not the stiffest tip shaft ever made. The code 6 is soft and plays soft but is remarkably easy to hit, albeit a tad high.

I've got a Code 6 in my HiBore XL 9.5º. And while it does go pretty high for a 9.5º, my swing speed is 105 and it's very stable.

sounds good. on a side note- look at the code 7 & 8 for fairway woods.. flat out the best. understand a tad $$ but worth it - if you do not change much.

thanks for the replies - i haven't hit the X-con series, but love the Code-6 sooo much through impact. I think i'll just take the plunge and get the 8.5 head - and put one in at 45" untipped - to allow for some tipping down to 44.5" if it's a bit too soft / high.

Does the X-con series have the boron 'hinge' in it too?

stick with the code 6 get a strong flex reading and leave untipped.. at 45'' you will be fine. find that 8.5* head and your solid.
