    Does anybody know of...

A website or place I can go to find specs on clubs that aren't in production anymore? I used to be able to send an email to Ben Hogan Customer Service and get what I need but they are no longer answering emails. I have not tried emailing Callaway but thought I might give this a shot first. I am looking for lofts and lie angles for the 2006 Ben Hogan Apex Blades. Thanks!
Blew up the bag, not sure what's going in next...
    Any suggestions?

  2. It really doesn't matter. What I mean is that almost every new set of clubs Will have clubs that don't match. Some of the clubs in a set will be on spec and some will be off. Maybe way off. Plus, you have to adjust them for your use. My last new set were Taylor Made r7 TPs. The 7 and 8 iron were the same loft. Yup, the same loft at 38,5 deg. And the lie angles were all over the place. Spend the money to have your clubs adjusted while using a lie board. The fitter will place a piece of tape on the bottom of the club and when you hit the board with a swing it will indicate how to adjust the lie angle so that the club doesn't dig at the toe or heal. At the same time the fitter will adjust the lofts so that there is an equal difference in loft between clubs. Then, you will have a set that fits you and will have consistent yardages between clubs. You may still need to tweak a club or 2 after playing them. When you have them perfect, document the settings and have them checked a couple times each year because they will change, especially if you have a steep angle of attack in your swing.

I know, what I was looking for was a base as to what the lofts should be. That way when I have a fitter check the lofts/lies I will know where the adjustments need to be made.

  4. I see. Knowing the standard intended specs are helpful but rather than let the manufacturer determine where to start, I determine were I start. I want my wedge loft to be whatever it takes to make my ball go 135 yards. That may be anywhere from 47 to 49 deg. Then I want to build at 4 deg intervals up threw the set and tweak where needed to get even spacing in distance. Lofts have gotten stronger through the years, which is why I carry 4 wedges. Todays 9 iron was yesterdays 8. So in essence, the gap wedge was needed to replace the old wedge that we lost so that manufactures could claim that their irons go farther.
