Thread: Ever sell a great club?

  1. #1

    Ever sell a great club?

Did you ever have a club that you loved, was very dependable, rarely let you down, and yet for some reason you got rid of it?

I was reflecting today (I was really bored!) on the spot in my bag that seems to have the most rotation. The spot, or spots, between my 3 wood and 3 iron. I've had many great clubs in there, but I used to have a really great one. It was a Tour Edge Exotics 18 degree hybrid. It was so straight and forgiving that I actually went a stretch hitting it for every tee shot on holes under 400 yards. I actually hit the 150 stake a couple of times! It was nearly automatic.

I think I replaced it because I could not hit it from deep rough as well as an Idea Pro or Rescue TP. Like I need to hit the green from 230 from 4 inch rough.

Its a club ho life. The Rescue TP in my bag is my fourth one. I will probably end up getting another Exotics, because it was too good to me. I need to start ho and stow, because I end up going back to clubs that give me bad stretches.
    Annual bag refreshening almost complete...

Yeah I shouldn't have let my R7 TP 5-wood go. That was an awesome club!

I have a TEE 21* 3 hybrid that I can't hit. It's yours if you want it. I am looking for a Tee 4 wood or .335 shafts to play with.

The TEE, was that the Ironwood or the other version?

I had a Cleveland 13* Launcher that was money off the tee. Had a classic Proforce Gold 75 shaft that I loved. Couldn't hit it off the deck though. ALso had a Nike T40 tour 17* that was money out of the fairway. Dumped them both to free up a spot for a 15* 3w and hybrid. Have yet to hit a hyrid I like.
Blew up the bag, not sure what's going in next...
    Any suggestions?

Don't have that problem, too often, as I am a confirmed Ho and Stow.

Oh, and if you really, really, really regret selling that TEE hybrid; I happen to have one in stock. Make me an offer. :shark:

I had a old V steel 7 wood that was money. It had a steel shaft in it and I can't recall every hitting a bad shot with it. But for some reason I gave it to my youngest son who traded it for something else. Every time I'm about 170-190 yards out I wish I had that club back.

Sold off my previous Burner for some stupid reason, really ended up missing that club until I finally replaced it with another Burner.

I have a 22º TEE Hybrid that has a permanent spot in my bag, fantastic club.

After I read Clug's post I was going to say the exact same thing. I'm also a confirmed Ho 'n Stow and so I don't suffer from seller's remorse either.

About the only clubs I've gotten rid of in the last 3-5 years is a set of mid-range Wilson irons I gave to one of my best friends last year to get him started in golf. I also gave another friend a 9.5º TM R580-XD driver this year. Not enough loft for me but he bombs the thing. I only hit it a few times at the range and it was doing me no good and never would.

Us Ho and Stows have some good stock.

I normally do not like selling off my stock, but when someone is looking for something I have sitting in the corner I offer it up.

Think of the bag I could have by now. :killersmiley:

I've sold alot of treasures in my day. And now alot of guys are bagging them as gamers. And for good reason.

I guess if they have good homes now, that's what i should be happy about. Not the fact that i have 5 drivers sitting in the basement unhit as I type this.
