x-14 issue

mates,

i'm a new golfer, and purchased a used set of decent condition x-14s. i played through the summer and was going to have them reconditioned over the fall.

at the same time i hit a set of nike slingshots and decided to by them given the quality/price. when the sales person asked about my regular set i told him about my x-14s. a guy in the store overheard, and thought i wanted to sell them and asked what i wanted. toying with him a bit, i said $600, and to my surprise he eagerly agreed. [i only paid $300 for 3-9 and the three wedges].

the salesman then told me that the guy specializes in used callaway gear, and especially x-14s, and that the x-14 has the reputation of being the consentual best set of clubs ever, and that i should not sell them. he said he'd be happy to trade and that he'd give me the nikes plus some change, but that i shouldn't sell the set.

what about all this? is this for real or merely hyperbole?

DO IT

man, thats ridiculous, the x-14s arent worth nearly 600, and if you can get the nikes and change and like the slingshots, by all means take it up

right under $400. i'm told that nike is coming out with a slew of new slingshot models. he was going to give me the slingshots [steel shafts - i don't like graphite] and about $35 to boot for the x-14s.

i figured he must've known of a fanatic, including the other guy in the store.

I sold a set today with graphite shafts and they were new except the 7 iron had been hit a couple of times for $299.95.

The callaway is a goos set but they made a lot of these so I would have sold them for 600 and bought the slingshots for $350 and pocketed the rest.
