New 5W... sorta

Twofast brought the 906F4 18.5* he built to the course today for me to try. Hit it 3 times. Hit the fairway off the tee on a short par 4, hit the green and off the back on a long par 4 approach then hit one right behind the stick on a par 5 but it was just a practice shot on a few extra holes we played.

Amazing the difference a shaft can make. The one I had, had that stock VS Proto 80g and went high and left all the time. This one has a Speeder 761TB in it and is a lot lower flight. So it's going in the bag. I love how easy this thing is to grip down and hit 200 with a cut. It'll probably be about 220 off the tee, which is exactly what I was looking for.

So other than possibly bringing back the 60* with a more upright lie and a load of lead tape, I think I'm set.

Can't say enough about what a great addition this club is. Haven't really hit a bad shot yet with it. I full gripped it and hit it over trees from 230 to the fringe on a par 5. Then I hit the green into the wind from 190 gripped down on the #1 cap hole. WTF was I thinking with a 2i? This thing sooo solid with that 761Speeder in it.

Cripes, nailing this thing at the range as well. Twofast has another 761 and I'm half thinking of getting a 13.5* 906F4 and puttin that in. I hit like one shot that was longer with the TEE at the range. The 906 is like laser accurate to over 230. This thing is going to be a par 5 killer this year.

Hit a gripped down 5W, lol. I'm actually going to try a J36 22* in place of the 3i in a few weeks. We'll see what happens this year but let me just say don't expect the 704's to make it through. AP1's are on my radar.

Not wishing to hijack this thread or anything but I've been thinking of grabbing a new 5 wood or equivalent for this season.

Have been scanning UK Ebay for a TEE CB1 but they are like hen's teeth over here.

A few options I have had a look at are

Bobby Jones 5 wood
Bobby Jones 19* Hybrid
Geek DCT/Accuflex Assassin II
Sonartec SS1.5

Anyone have any experience with any of the above or have any interesting variations I should also include in my search?

With your conversion rate wouldn't it just be better value for money to snag a Tee CB1 5W from the states and have it shipped over? Yeah, postage is a bit but you'd still come out in front I would imagine....

Have to add on duty as well so it can be a bit of a shot in the dark - I will have a look though as if the item is less than $110 or so they sometimes waive the duty as its not worth the paperwork for the amount they'd collect.

I'd be VERY surprised if you cant pick up a TEE CB1 5 wood for under $110. I've seen good condition 3 woods go for $70 (BigJim's is a good example) and 5W's are less popular. Grab one in the states for $60 (probably about 30 pound for you) and get 'em to ship it over. Even after shipping and taxes you'll be a mile in front...

Well if someone is kind enough to help out that seems the best way to go if I buy from the US.

Saw this one pretty cheap and presumably its only a ladies due to the shaft? I take it the head is the same?

If you can live with the Pink headcover, you can have it shipped to me and I'll forward it along. I don't have the needed tools to pull the shaft, but I can cut it off and box it up. Send me a PM if your interested.
