Thread: Slazenger Wrath ATX Club Set

  1. Cool Slazenger Wrath ATX Club Set

I am new to golf and I am looking to buy a decent set of clubs. After looking around at Golf Galaxy the Slazenger Men's Wrath ATX (Steel) Complete Set looked most convenient for me. There were no reviews for the clubs. I was wondering if these clubs are worth it and I want to see other's input on it.
Heres the link on Golf Galaxy:

    Thanks

For $299.00 I'd suggest Global Golf, listed under sponsors here on Shot Talk. Get a quality set of name brand used irons and putter and a 3 or 4 wood, and maybe a 3 hybrid. Don't worry about a driver if you are just starting out.

And welcome to Shot Talk btw

Re: Slazenger Wrath ATX Club Set

Your 1st post said you were new to golf. The driver is the hardest club to hit, most beginners do better starting off without one. If you've played for a while, then by all means get one. But I still stand by my suggestion of going used instead of a box set.

    I second Dubbya's suggestion.

I used to work at Dick's Sporting Goods (they own golf Galaxy and carry many of the same boxed sets) and we would get so many returned boxed sets like those with broken drivers where the face caved in due to faulty materials, bad shafts, etc.

For 3 bills, you can put yourself together an extremely SOLID set of used Brand Name clubs that are maybe 5 years old.

if you want a driver, then noone here's opinion is going to be able to sway you, but given the driver creates more problems for novice golfers, than it does help them, it is truly more wise to start off by teeing primarily with say a 3 wood, or 3 hybrid, which will keep you in play much more often and reduce penalty strokes and lost balls.

Re: Slazenger Wrath ATX Club Set

then by all means, get a driver.....

you have to understand that we see posts like yours several times a week from people who really are just starting the game. most of whom just don't have the skill yet to control a 45" driver. as earlier stated, these people would be much more ideally suited to just tee off with a shorter and higher lofted fairway wood/hybrid/iron to keep the ball in play and avoid penalty strokes. if you can successfully hit driver..then more power to you.
