Thread: Ball/shaft

  1. Ball/shaft

I know that my swing speed is 115+ and just did a little research on golf balls, turns out I've been playing a low compression ball and from what I've read I need the opposite. I can't afford to spend $40+ a dozen and was just wondering what anybody would recommend. I do not so much care about giving up a soft feel/spin.

Also in the process of ordering a new Cobra S9-1 S driver and was wondering what a recommended shaft for my swing speed would be. I know I should swing an X-Stiff, I am just not familiar with the different brands, or kickpoints/torque.

There are a million answers to both questions. Bridgestone B330, and an X flex Proforce V2 in 76g.

Good mid-range priced balls are hard to find. Try a sleeve of the Cally Diablos, $23.00 a dozen. Another option might be the Trispeed from Srixon, around $27.00.

A good shaft for you is really hard to suggest. The best thing you could do would be demo, but finding many with a X-stiff to demo could be difficult. The V2 is is good place to start, feels pretty boardy to me, but I'm not swinging 115 either, ;)

I also forgot to add that I am left-handed and can't seem to find the driver I want with 8.5º loft (cobra s9-1 pro). After asking around I figure I'm just SOL but does anyone know anything about that?

  7. Re: Ball/shaft

    I'd echo the B-330RX suggestions.

I'd look also at a Fubuki 73X, or a Whiteboard in the same set up.

  8. Re: Ball/shaft

When I was doing all that ball reaserch (core compression/cover hardness), I found that a TopFlite Gamer specs out surprisingly close to a Pro V. Others would be Srixon Z-URS and Bridgestone B-330s.
It must be awful to have to work for a living.

I found this when I was comparing squishy balls.
