Thread: Thoughts on Staff Bags for us hacks

  1. Thoughts on Staff Bags for us hacks

What are your thoughts on hacks like us having staff bags? I've kind of got my eye on the one from Callaway and sorta hinted to my wife that it would be a great Christmas present. Looked at them at GG and they are really cool. Pockets everywhere! They are big but not like HUGE.. so I think they should still fit on a golf cart and probably my push cart. It's something I don't see a lot of my course, maybe 1 or 2 people.

I had a Cleveland Staff bag at one time. They don't really fit on a cart right, and on a push cart I'd imagine it would be too heavy.

It was pretty, and no doubt about the pockets, it had more than I can imagine ever needing.

Old, vintage staff bags, maybe. They tended to be a bit smaller than the monsters of today.

I've had 2 staff bags now that I have a Hill Billy electric trolley. Loads of guys over here have them, cos a lot of places don't have carts.

I have last years Callaway, and BE WARNED!!!! IT DOES NOT FIT ON CARTS well.
    In the bag:

    Driver: TM R9 TP 8.5* Fubuki 73x
3 Wood: Callaway FT Tour 15* Neutral
    Hybrid: Callaway FT Hybrid 19*

  5. Re: Thoughts on Staff Bags for us hacks

I got my dad the cleveland bag that is all black with white letters......it is like a mini staff bag or something....only 8.5" or so. It is pretty sweet I have looked at the smaller versions but I like my stand bag.....I can walk or ride.

I only play with one guy that has one...a full sized TM Bag from about 4-5years ago..it is NICE...HUGE...plenty of pockets..but like others have said it isnt really laid out for a cart...they do have the mini tour bags now...smaller versions..they are pretty and may fit better...
As to us hacks carrying a tour bag...some people will give funny looks..but who cares as long as you like it...just dont expect people to offer up strokes on the first tee..

  8. Re: Thoughts on Staff Bags for us hacks

You're gonna pay that kind of money for a staff bag? Shouldn't it be the other way around? The club manufacturer should be paying you to advertise their products. Unless they pay me to play their sticks, which will probably never happen, I refuse to advertise in such a big way for them.

I didn't even think of that. I have a Heinz 57 bag full of clubs!

Staff bags are ridiculous. Get a really nice cart bag. I just got a Burton Apex and it's the cat's ass (assuming you have a fetish for cat asses).

Or.....get a super light carry bag and burn some calories and get off the cart! I'm such a weirdo I know, a purist. I have not sat in a golf cart in over 10 years and won't until my body makes me. Anyone that thinks fitness doesn't matter in golf should go carry a bag 18 holes...it matters! Probably one of the reasons my usual group and I walk 18 in 3 hours flat worst case scenario....speeds up play exponentially b/c each guy minds after his own ball, but I digress and realize I'm the lone ranger on walking.

Sun Mountain makes the best carry bag in my opinion, the Swift X is unreal at 2.5 lbs. and is extremely durable. I have had them all and the name brand bags are not meant to last in my opinoin.

If you're a decent golfer (below 15 cap) you look alright with them. If you're a real hack (like a former vip at the company I worked for) you will look rediculous and be ridiculed behind your back.
