Gazing into the crystal ball

Okay, I'm sitting here having random thoughts about what clubs are going to be in our bags in 25-30 years.

A Putter - Duh

2 different clubs to use off the tee. One for distance, another for control. The "grip it & rip it" club will sacrifice accuracy for distance, similar to today's drivers. The other "tee club" will be designed for accuracy & less for distance. Maybe a deep faced club, 250-300 cc, 14-15 degree, 42-43" 95 gram, very low torque shaft.

A long fairway club, again similar to today's 3 wood. Shallow faced, not designed for off the tee. This is for those long, impossible fairway shots, as much distance as possible without worrying about hitting it too far.

2-3 hybrid type clubs, 39-40 inches, lofts in the 20's. These will have pretty heavy heads. At least one will be designed to get the ball high & long. Another will be designed to keep the ball low but long with roll. Around 200 yds. These will be your long irons.

1-2 deep cavity clubs, perhaps similar to G2-HL's. These will be your mid irons. These will be to get up & over stuff & stop. No roll. Distances between 150 & 200.

2-3 irons designed as shallow cavities or blades. These will work in the 100-150 range, but will be designed not from a distance perspective, but from a ball flight thing. Maybe one for a high 125 yards, and another as a 125 yard line drive. Somehing like that.

A low loft, maybe 16*-18*, 35-36 inch club, for punch shots and bump & run chips. Use this one to get it down the track 6 feet off the ground (under trees?), and for shots 10 feet off the green where you don't want to get up in the air.

2-3 wedges, sorta like today's. Inside 80 yds.

Just some thoughts, your mileage may vary. What do you guys see?

We'll all be alive in the hearts & minds of those that love us. Assuming someone gives a s*** about us.

In 30 years I'll be 81 (or dead) so whatever they are they better be able to swing themselves.
