Recommendations for a Waterproof Jacket

I'm in the market for a top quality jacket. I've sported a Galvin Green for the last few years. Good top, problem is it's a bit large on me and I have given it to my brother to offload. Needs to be Gortex (or equivanent), lightweight, and comformable.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Footjoy red label is light and waterproof and cheaper than Galvin Green. Maybe won't tolerate quite the deluge that GG would but has always been fine for me IG.

Re: Recommendations for a Waterproof Jacket

IG,

I have just spent the last 3 weeks researching this like a hot damn. My conclusions are as follows (for me, anyways):

1. Sun Mountain Rainflex HD - best bang for the buck. All the retailers I've spoken too swear by them. Goretex style breathability and waterproof guarantee. I'm 5'10" and 185lbs and have a long upper body and I wear a Large. Sun Mountain Sports - Supplier of premier golf bags, outerwear, push and remote control golf carts, including speedcarts

2. Zero Restriction Packable Tourlite Jacket - expensive, but gets rave reviews. Goretex, packable (most Gore isn't, be wary of this) and stylish. Convertable to sleeveless or short sleeve (should you want it). Zero Restriction | Mens - Waterproof Rainwear, style G01J005 - Tour-Lite Traveler's Jacket

3. Sunice Hurricane Jacket - Goretex, expensive, but very stylish and golf oriented. The trouble is finding them, no retailers have my size. Even online. If you can find one over on that side on the pond, buy it. SUNICE GOLF COLLECTION 2009

4. Dunning Tour Stretch Jacket - worn by Zach Johnson amoung others on Tour. Fantastic rain ability, but again price is an issue, but you're going to pay top dollar for a product that works. I think they look pretty UK Styled as well, but that's me. Difficult to find, but can be had online.
DunningSportswear.com : Outerwear

Be wary of "water repellant", as that's rubbish. Don't be afraid to spend a few more dollars to get a product that will last and keep you dry. That's the point, no?

Sorry about the use of terms like "rubbish", I've been watching alot of Top Gear BBC as of late.

Any of the above would be fantastic for your needs. Just my two cents.

Re: Recommendations for a Waterproof Jacket

I live in the NW, known for its rain, and i'm sporting a new Columbia Titanium Omni-Tech that is fully seam sealed and has zipable vents in the pit area. Not cheap but extremely waterproof.

If that would have been a full zip, I would have sent you Paypal for a Black in Large.

ZR makes great products, but are pretty pricey, and worth it.

I have a ZR jacket. Kinda lightweight, but the sleeves zip off, and it's waterproof, wind-proof. Got it on sale, but it was around $250.

They make several rainproof offerings. Prices are pretty much all over the map, breathable waterproof being the most expensive.

I've seen some great deals on older models on Ebay. The T2 jacket they used to have was money.

Re: Recommendations for a Waterproof Jacket

Bagged a Sunice Hurricane in black and grey. Featherlite, stylish. And cheaper than Galvin Green!

Very happy, very dry! Cheer guys!
