Smile 3 wood

Hi all,
I need some 3 wood advice! I can't go test lots of clubs as I live a long ways from town. I am a high handi-cap (100) I am big and strong and hit stiff shafts. I can't hit a 3 wood to save my a** so I need to try a new 1. What do you all like?
Thanks Jack

Re: 3 wood

3 wood is one of the hardest, if not THE hardest club to hit from the fairway. It's not the arrow, man. If you just plain can't hit a 3W well, that's all there is to it. Stop trying, for now. If you're a high handicap you should probably never try to hit 3W off the ground. Get yourself a 18-20* hybrid and use that until you're swinging a bit more consistently.

Re: 3 wood

I would second Silver's suggestion, and kudos on the Fybrid. That's a great place to start. If you get better and like the hybrid, next go to a 4 wood in the 16-17 degree range. That will fill the gap well, and the extra degree or two will really help you. Good luck!

Re: 3 wood

The problem with 3-woods is people try to use their driver swing with it and either thin it or chunk it. Put it back in your stance a little more, choke down an inch and hit it like a long iron.
