    Hogan clubs - revived?

Has the Hogan brand been revieved by Callaway or sold on? I was in a local American Golf Store last week and saw what I think is a new release Hogan Driver & Fairways!

Here's the link;- Ben Hogan Colonial Graphite #1 Driver - Golf Drivers - American Golf

    Is this new?

EDIT;- I have done a search on Ebay for 'Ben Hogan Colonial driver' and no matches turned up which makes me think this is indeed a new club.

So Callaway have sold the brandname on?

Shame they should have incorporated the name into there premium forged line.

Why compete with yourselves? Callaway has a premier forged iron.

Hogan was done long ago. They uses the coattails to sell off what they had on hand and use the name for their own product development.

    A sound business decision, IMO.

I suppose so, it's just a shame to see the end of such a good Brand. When Callaway originally purchased Hogan they didn't have any forged irons on the market thats when I was thinking they should have incorporated Hogan into there brand.

Well, in a way, they did. They took the forging process from Hogan and encorporated it into their Xforged and Xtour, plus the Prototypes as well. That's why those irons feel so nice, they have a little Hogan in 'em.

    Re: Hogan clubs - revived?

What made Hogan special was Hogan himself and his legendary quality control demands, without that they are/were just another brand.

when you bought Hogan off old you got quality gear, like nothing else. When he went, Callaway immediatley reduced costs and thus quality. Speak to any fitter of old, they will tell you they can bend post Hogan Callaway Hogans with their nobs.

Hogan forged blades used to as good if not better than any Japanese forgings, no longer.

    Re: Hogan clubs - revived?

hogan was done after the last release of the apex series
the colonial driver is junk, they have had them at golftown here in canada for a while now
IMO hogans older iron are 100x better than any iron callaway has ever made, all callaway has is there xforge and protos
protos may be supreme over the apex but the xforge are terrible feeling
