    SC Newport Te I3 Someone??????

    Hey mates!

Someone in my clinic is offering me a Scott Cameron Newport Tei3 for an absolutely great price. I'm happy with my B60, but as a Shot Talk member I have to live with the circumstance of wanting to buy new stuff all the time . I've never had a Cameron in my life, I had not even putt with one, but I find this could be a good opportunity for doing so uner $80 bucks.

I had never heard anything from this putter, and I find it horrible looking but I think with a little "enhancement" might be a wonderful addition, specially with my new Cheetah Shot Talk head cover...

Does anybody know ANYTHING about this putter? How does this play?

    Thanks mates....

Been a while since I've seen one but they used to be the ducks nuts a few years back, I think before Scotty got into his Studio styles etc. Insert doesn't change THAT much from what i can remember but if you don't like the thing as N.V.M said, you could easily get your money back, maybe a little extra.

Hell, the idiots at WRX will pay $500 for it if you say Brad Faxon used to own it.

The Te I3's are superb putters. Tiger used one to win his first major. A pal of mine uses one and he loves the thing. His clubs got stolen out of his locker early this year. I leant him some spare irons, woods, bag but didn't have a putter to lend him. He bought the Te I3 from a junior at the club for £50. He putted that well with it that when his insurance money came through he got a new Studio Select but sold it after a week because he prefered the looks, feel and performance of the old one. Great putter for that price.
It's a 1st run FTi - Tour Issue he says.

The Terrilyium insert was loved my many. There's just not that many left out there and, in reasonable shape, can be a sought after putter. For about $100, you can send it to Scotty and he'll refurbish it to look like new. Pick it up. If you like the feel of it and want to put it in the bag, have it redone and you still will have far less invested than purchasing a new Cameron. In 'like new' condition, if it won't make putts for you, you should be able to turn it for a nice profit.
Blessed to have a bag full of trustworthy friends who have provided this old man with hundreds of hours enjoying the great game of golf.

X, I have and still use a TEI3 Santa Fe version. Very soft feeling putter with the copper insert that is embedded into a silicon type material (those would be the white dots you see on the back of the putter). They do take some work as the gun blue color finish will rust in a second if you don't keep some sort of oil on the putter. I've seen guys send them in to have a pro platinum (silver) finish applied that doesn't rust. The copper insert in my opinion doesn't take away from the "feel" of the putter like a lot of the insert putters do either. I like mine, and like mentioned above for $80 you can't go wrong.

    TeI3 Newports are OK!

The insert is mostly copper with some other stuff in the alloy, very soft. The insert is screwed into the carbon steel head. Black Oxide finish on the body.

THe white stiff is mostly decorative and can be replaced with simple siliconized latex caulk.

Scotty resto on these is pretty expensive, about $200 plus shipping & tax, total will push $225. If the insert is badly damaged, replacement inserts are not available. George Palombi is the man to restore these unless an "authentic" resto job is important to you.

There's 3 versions of this one:
    - Sole Stamp - TeI3 is on the sole, pretty rare and collectible. Moved the graphics to the face after Tiger's win. Mebbe 1000 of these.
    - No white line around the insert, Scotty moved away from this because each insert had to be hand fitted and manufacturing costs were high.
    - White line around insert. Most common version.

$80 is a good deal. Jump on it.
