It's fairly similar, just takes more brute force with the motorized variety.
It's just the system and understanding the placement of the hub vs the spokes. After you have the first set done, it's just repetitive work. However, in the class I went to, I was the only one of 14 that could figure it out, so there is a bit of an art to it.

All road. I raced all through my 20s but then hung my wheels up when my daughter was born (she just turned 5). I dusted off the bike back in January and have been logging miles all year. Boy, how I missed it! It is just awesome to be back out again!!
Doing your own work is pretty sweet. I can do some light weight stuff but I have always had a good wrenching buddy. My current wrench just got hired as the head mechanic for the #1 women's pro team in the US. It means he won't be around much next year so I may have to start working on my own stuff again...

It's all gone for me as well. I don't have any inclination to get any other clubs whatsoever. I haven't even replaced the shaft in my 5W. Been fine with the 3W to 3i hybrid gap.

I just ho' and sto' these days. I've got clubs still with the plastic on them sitting in the closet.
It's getting cool here now, so golf will slow a tad bit, and I'll slowly start shooting at the indoor ranges more, and buying more guns. I stocked up several thousand rounds last year, and shot less than half since then.. So I'll stock up again this winter, and buy in bulk.
Gonna slow down on the club buying, but will buy a new set of irons just for the hell of it. Looking at the Titleist 710 MB's, or some Mizuno MP68's... Maybe a set of Adams Pro MB's if I find some for a good price. Just a good forged set to store away.![]()

I have both the Tamron lenses and the same teleconverter. Nothing but praise for them in my book.
Although, my favorite lens in the bag is the Canon 70-200L f4 which I got a deal on last January. Ho'ing L series is majorly expensive so it will probably be the only one in the bag for quite some time.
Ho'ing golf clubs has pretty much ended for me (for now anyway) and I can not even remember the last club I ho'd. I will have to check my eBay record, but I am pretty sure that I have not purchased a club yet in 2009.

I think it would be cool to put together a set of pre-1980 equipment, and try to play for a whole season to see what it would do to your handicap.
you guys should start hoing old clubs.
