Re: Cally FT-I Tour LCG HELP!!!!

A simple clean of the hosel will suffice. They sell nailpolish remover with a little acetone in it at the store. That would work too. Be careful, work slow and don't f*ck it up. LOL.

Tape will work for swingweighting only. It won't affect the ballflight on the driver unless you add a boat load. If you fight a draw, you bought the wrong head.

OK, well I think I have it pretty well cleaned out, worked very slowly on it and hopefuly didn't f*ck it up.

I don't necessarily fight a draw, but the ability to move the ball both ways would have been nice. Truth be told my drives with the Burner TP go mostly straight, its just whether I push or pull them offline.

Cripes, now I don't know whether to try and sell the head as is and try and find a neutral or whack a shaft in this and try it out. In your experience Rock, how much draw flight will this head put on a shot if it would have been relatively straight with a neutral head?

Well, it's hard to say. If you put a good swing on it, the weighting will square the face earlier and get it going left (or right, in your case).

My suggestion is to try it. Worst case scenario, you sell it and go another route. No big deal.

Re: Cally FT-I Tour LCG HELP!!!!

Thanks MC!!

Well I think I will try this out, but I think I may buy one of the lie/face angle adapters and make it 1 or 2 degrees upright and open the face a degree more. But I think I'll also buy a standard hosel to put in when I sell the bugger.

Watch this space, soon to come a heavily modified FT-I LCG with accuflex creation.

Well it probably won't be real soon, still gotta get the damn adapters!!!! Any help, anyone?

I've never understood how the ferrule can change the lie and the face angle, how is that possible?

The ferrule is actually crooked, Jim. The shaft goes in slightly at an angle, but not enough that you can notice by eye. The face angle is the indicator.

If you twist it one way, it lowers the toe. The other way, it lifts the toe. If you put it to the back of the head, it decreases static loft, forward increases loft. Pretty ingenious, actually.

Re: Cally FT-I Tour LCG HELP!!!!

Certainly is...

I hope I can set it how I want it. I just assumed that open and upright would be an option, as the other way around would allow closed and angled down.

Correct?

Loft & Lie Adapter Ferrule - Callaway

That has a diagram that shows how it works. Read the description too.

God, I'm such a doofus!!!

When the term face angle was mentioned I assumed it allowed you to alter it's openness and closedness (1* open, 2* shut that sort of thing) but it's not is it?!?!

It's essentially lie angle and face LOFT. So if I set it at the 10:00 position on that driver I would increase lie angle by 1/2 a degree but make it more loft than it's current 9.5* status.

I'm such a stoopid!!!!

So basically I'd be best off setting the adapter at 12:00, therefore not changing it's loft, but setting the club more upright, therefore promoting a more upright swing which would help to take away some of the draw effect of the head.

Yes. Opening the face does change the effective loft at impact as well somewhat, so you're on the right track. I honestly wouldn't read much into it, just install and swing it.

Alright, time to stop overthinking this and just do it. I think I need some more brass shims and shaft plugs anyway so I'll throw an order in at golfworks and hope international postage for a few small things is reasonable. Thanks again rock!
