Scoreline painting

Does the stuff in the sticks/cans from places like Golfworks stay worth a crap, or will it chip out in no time? Also, do heads that come with painted scorelines have slightly deeper grooves to account for the thickness of the paint, or is it too thin to really worry about anyway?

I ask because I have a set of clubs with unpainted lines for a person that's used to having them filled in. Would like to make him happy, but don't want to dick up performance or have crappy paint that comes out after a little use.
