Longer shaft = longer straighter drives?

I recently bought an aldila NVS shaft uncut and fitted it to my Cobra 454. It's 4 inches longer than the standard stock shaft. The results have been nothing short of amazing, I'm hitting it about 20-30 yards futher and find it easy to hit straight or with slight draw. which for me is good cause my normal shape is a fade which seems to loose power. I have been to the range and let the three best players I know(a pro,2 & 4 handicaps) have ago with it and they all hit it miles and straight. The two handicapper has asked me to make one up for him. Has anybody else tried this? Does anybody know if there's a limit on the length of shaft your allowed?

It's a honeymoon thing. I had a Launcher 400 with a long shaft in it and absolutely killed it with amazing accuracy. But then it started to hook. And hook. And hook. And hook. You get the point. You have to be a lot flatter in order to hit the ball right, and sometimes that helps people right away. But after a while it stops working. JMO

The longest a club can be, non-putter, is 48 inches measured from the bottom of the sole of the club to the end of the grip.

The USGA just added that a couple of years ago also.

In that case I may save it until this years Captains final ! I must admit when I'm struggling with my swing it's because I cast the club at the start of my down swing, the longer shaft just seems to stop me doing it, only time will tell though i suppose.

The longer a shaft is, the softer it will play also. It may be that you have been playing too stiff shafts, and the softer nature of this shaft is helping you square the face up.

For the record, too-stiff shafts usually miss right, and too-soft usually miss left. It may be someting for you to look into.
