Thread: Need driver head recommendation

  1. Question Need driver head recommendation

I'm still in love with my Titleist 983K, 9.5* with the Prolite Shaft. Right now I'm teeing the ball high and hitting big, high draws with it. Come Sunday, it's anybody bet whether I'll still be hitting them, though.

But I have my Hogan C-S3, 10.5* with the Aldila shaft, just sitting around. Love the shaft, hate the head. So I want to replace the head. Any reasonably priced recommendations, i.e., less than $100?

So far the only one I have found that looks interesting that I can afford is the SMT Shinnecock at $79.

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has its' pricks on the outside.

  2. Check this one out. On sale for $79.98. I have the 3-wood and absolutely love it.

  3. Looks almost like the EGO II at Golfworks.

There is a SMT 455 Deep Bore 9* on ebay for $99. I'm tempted but I don't know about that loft; it might be a degree too low.

    Cool

Check out the TurboPower T1700 heads at www.golfclubsandmore.com. I have a 10.5 and a 12* head, plus 4 extra screws for both. A friend of mine pointed me to them when he got one and was hitting his over 325 yards all the time. I've got Harrison Sl50 R flex shafts in mine and I'm quite happy the both of them. If you like the idea of movable weights, this is a good head to try. It's a lot less money than the R7 Quad, and you can get extra screws at $8 for 4 screws. I think the extra screws from TM cost $90 for 5. The Ti700 head only cost me $68.00 each, so give it a look see.

  5. Appreciate the recommendations. I have already ordered an Integra Sooo Long 450 in 10.5* for $59.

Bright blue to go on the green Aldila NV-H shaft, so even if I can't hit it, it'll be bling.

  6. Except for getting one with a .83 COR you will not find much difference from one head to the other. Pick the one you think looks the best to you. Your first concern should be getting the right frequency shaft. Don't begin to think that if you liked a specific shaft (A,L,R,S or X) that by getting another one of that same designation that you will have the same performance.

  7. I hit a Ping G2 8.5* with Aldila NV-S stiff shaft today and got an extra 30 yards! I'm having buyers remorse. :(
