Need Help Picking New Woods

I am looking to buy a new driver and three wood beacue I need stiffer shafts and I was wondering if anyone had any recomendations. I really liked the old taylormade burners and I am trying to find something new and similar to those. I like the feel of the heavier club head and the smaller face. Any reccomendations would be much appreciated.

I had a go on the Taylor Made R5 stiff shaft and i think its a real nice feeling club, also tried the Taylor Made Steel 3 Wood, which was great aswell and decided to buy one.

Also, the Slazenger K1 i bought aswell, stiff shaft, i get on really well with that, some people moan about it, saying they slice the ball alot more than normal etc, but thats themselves at fault not the club.

Get them Re shafted with stiffer shafts that way its cheaper and you know your going to like the club head.

If you like the shape and appearance of TM woods, I suggest looking at Tour Edge Exotics series. You can read my review on their driver in this forum someplace.

They are by far the longest and most forgiving (based on distance) of any brand of fairway woods I have ever hit. You can get them shafted in a variety of shafts to suit your needs.

Try these out if you can. Just don't be surprised if you come home with a driver and 3 wood.

Unfortunately, I only have a knock-off burner 3-wood and I have been borrowing a friend's burner driver, so re-shafting is not an option.

I am less concearned with finding a stiff shaft becuase I think that will be the easy part. I am just looking for some woods that have a little more weight in the head, I tried using the r7 460 and it was just way to light for me.

Simply buy a weight package of heavier weights for the r7 and you can increase the club head weight and swingweight. On my Snake Eyes Viper Ti4 and Viper Ti460 I use the weight ports for exactly that purpose. I replaced the 8 gram weights with 12 gram weights on the Ti-4 and the 2 gram weights with 10 gram weights along with replacing the 8 gram weight with a 12 gram weight on the Ti-460 to increase swingweight.

That is the beauty of adjustable weight technology.
