Sheepish: I take back everything I said

OK so I go to Golfsmith today with my Sonartec SS-03 with the newly installed Aldila NV-75 that I just hate.

The clubfitter is at lunch so I ask one of the sales people on the floor to help me. I explain everything.

He says, "lets put you on the monitor and see how you are hitting it".

So we go over there and we tee up a ball. I am wearing my regular shoes that have slick leather soles.

On my first shot, I hit a nice tight draw that landed in the fairway, left of center. Got a mid-launch angle with a carry of 212...the guy says, "Nice hit man". (A 212 carry would roll out to about 240 easily).

Second shot pretty much the same thing.

Then he says, "let's try one more".

My third shot is so straight that you had to look closely at the computer screen to see the dashed line (that represents the ball flight) from the solid line (that represents the middle of the fairway).

The guy starts laughing. I feel like a complete idiot.

I said, "I guess you see this all the time"...

He says, "Yup, its just like taking your car into the dealer with some sort of odd noise but it won't do it when you go there".

So I am going to play several times with the shaft to see how it goes.....

ArrrGGGGGHHHH!!!

LOL. I've learned to give equipment a little time before judgement (unless it's an R7 TP ) I suppose the equipment I feel most comfortable with and will keep had this effect at first. It's the stuff that went though the ol' honeymoon phase that is gone. There was the R7, the Cameron putter and the 690mb's. All were very exciting when I first hit them but quickly went to crap. I had the opposite with the Miura's. I was thinking of cutting the shafts, different shafts, changing lie. Now they are just perfect as is, I even love the 5iron now. Funny how these things work.

Perhaps you should play in those shoes more often!
Seriously, I have been having a simular "transition period" with a 5 wood I just bought. Hitting it useless at first but now I am starting to see some results, lovely traj with the Graf Blue shaft I got in it.
Heres hoping persistence pays off for us both. Good luck with it.

I already mentioned I have the NV65 on my driver. It did in fact take me several months to get used to now that I think about it more. I also always hit it well at the range and on the monitor, even when I hit screaming Duck hooks on the course.

Good Luck!!!

I have that happen (range and course) also. It seems I tend to tighten the grip on the club more when someone is watching me but get too loose on the course causing a duck hook. I've been watching that and haven't hit a duck hook yet this year.

I was ready to take back my Cobra driver until I got on the machine with other drivers and realized the Cobra worked pretty good with my swing.
