Mystery Maxfli

Howdy,

I just found a great deal on some Maxfli balls, $10 for 15 balls. The clerk said they were well rated for some extra distance, but had great feel. I tried to do some internet searching to get more details, but there is nothing out there!

They are Maxfli A10s. I know Maxfli discontinued these balls, and I've found a few consumer reviews, but these mostly seem to be talking about the Black packaged A10s, I believe they have tungsten in the core. I have the BLUE package that has titanium in the core.

Anybody remember what these balls were designed for, and what the properties might be? And what people think of them?

Thanks!

I've played the A-10 Solid for about 1 1/2 years, and have just switched this month to the Maxfli Rev Tour. The A-10 Solid is the 2-piece ball that is packaged in a black box. Although they also had a 3 piece ball which was just the "A-10" in a black box as well. I never played it. You can also find the A-10 Solid for around $12 for 12. I would imagine the ti-distance would be similar to the A-10 in the sense that any distance ball is similar to the like ball. You will probably give up spin and green holding ability for the sake of maybe 5 yards.

As far as the A-10 Solid, I was quite happy with the ball. Enough so to use it for 1 1/2 years. Although I do prefer the Rev Tour, which is a discontinued 3 piece ball that was replaced by the Black Max and I found them at Sports Authority for $12. By far the best ball I have been willing to buy at what I am willing to spend on Golf Balls.

The A-10 Solid does seem to have a much more durable cover than the Rev Tour, however at the rate I go through golf balls on my home course, durability is not really an issue I consider. If I were to buy a budget distance ball, which I no longer will, I would probably go with the Wilson Smart Core Pro Distance at $14.99 for 2 dozen from Golf Galaxy. I played it for over 3 years and it is much softer feeling, with more spin, than most distance balls. It seemed to be the only distance ball I played that would still hold the green with any bit of regularity.

Thanks Jayhawk. I found out today that the ones in the blue box are just their distance balls, they don't have as much of a soft feel to them as the black A10s. I like working spin around the greens, which is a stronger part of my game, but I'm a little concerned about too soft a ball off the tee, I'm starting to hit it straighter, but really don't want to accentuate movement just yet off the tee. Maybe after I figure out my tee shots, I'll go for a softer ball. Thanks.
