Titleist DT Wound 90 balls?

Somebody gave me a bunch of these balls. Other than some mild cover discoloration, they look good. I hit a couple of them yesterday, and they took off like a rocket. I really couldn't tell much difference from the balls I normallu play: Titleist DT SoLo and NXT.

Any opinions on these balls? Any way to make the covers brighter?

Wound balls.......so 80's

I used to play with the DT 100 compression balls but never looked back after I started hitting Stratas. Wound balls were better than the 2-piece offerings of the day as they had way more spin. The covers were more durable than the modern soft covers (except for the balata covered balls), but the balls eventually start to lose their shape. They use to sell a device so that you could check the roundness of your wound balls so you knew when to replace them (nothing too scientific, just a chunk of metal with a round hole the size of a golf ball that would let you see if the ball was mis-shapened.)

If they are working good for you, keep playing them.

Hey, the 80s were good years. I turned 30, dated a lot of beautiful women, went to and graduated from Vet school, and had my heart forever broken. What more could you ask for? A great golf ball!

80's good? I turned 30, got divorced, payed support, got re-married, got divorced but escaped debt free, got re-married, lost my job, moved to North Carolina....yeah, I guess it was okay, LOL!!!

I used to play these balls. Don't go as far as the 2 piece of it's day but was a good ball to the greens.

PTS 90's are one of the best balls ever made for club golfers. The core of wound balls is supposed to degrade with time, after all it is mainly elastic bands and they get hard and lose their elasticity after a couple of years-ish. Also a lot is made of the fact that balls are very evenly balanced nowadays which is very unlikely to be the case with those balls, but I'd still play with them any day.

Well I remember 81,81 and 83, then there was some drinking and women and then it was 1992, sort of blurry in between.

Exactamundo. Great ball, used to play them myself. Old examples degrade over time (sounds familiar.)

I used to love Titleist DT90's !!

Does anyone remember Wilson Ultra Competitions ? They were my ball of choice when I was a young cub, and starting this great game. It was also the ball that John Daly used to win at St. Andrews in '95...!
