Question on Clubs

Hey Everyone,
Im new here, and i am now really getting into golf. Im not new to forums, so i did use the search function, but i didnt see anything that really matched what i was looking for, because i dont know alot about golf clubs, just how the game is played, and i dont know if my height has anything to do with it

Im a tall guy, 6 5 or 6 6, and i was looking for good clubs to get me started off well. I have used my dads, hand-me-down clubs, there very old, and cant compare to any club now... Does anyone have any suggestions on what clubs are good for the money?

I wouldnt mind getting clubs out of date, such as a year or 2 old, expecially if they are on sale, or discounted, which i would think they would be.

thanks in advance!

Well, I think the first thing you need to do is goto a fitter and get the clubs sized properly. For your height, you'll going to need longer than standard clubs. Any fitter/club repairer should be able to extend the standard clubs to fit your height but the lie also may need to be adjusted.
Most of the clubs these days are so good, you really can't go wrong, I think the club selection has more to do with your preferences. If you are on budget, get older clubs 2-3 years old, still good clubs and much cheaper.
Well good luck.

SB, at this time, considering your height, don't worry about brand as of yet. As altgolfer said..you need to be properly fit. If you need custom clubs, and you most likely will you will be hard pressed to find 2yr old discounted models. Most importantly get a fitting by someone that knows what they are doing. Swinging a club that is too short will get you into some bad habits that are hard to break.

Get customfit! There is a new sponsor as well coming on board here, their web site is www.customgolfsales.com they have a nice selection of custom component clubs, and they are very friendly and reasonable, as well as knowledgable.

At your height, it will pay to seek the services of a company like this.

Best of Luck.
