Thread: forged cavity back choices

    forged cavity back choices

alright ive saved up some money this year an maybe possibly looking for some new irons. something a little more classy looking with a little more workability, feel etc than my tommy 845cs irons. i feel my game is good enough for a forged iron with a little forgivness, atleast into the long irons. im off a 9.2 index at the moment, and my striking has been getting better lately.

ok here's my top two choices at the moment.
    * noted price is approxiamate golf town price

    cleveland cg2 - 700
    wilson staff pi5 tour - 500

anyone wanna throw something else in there for me to try?
    your thoughts ..
    thanks

I've just got a set of Cleveland TA3 Gunmental finish. i've only played 36 holes with them but the feel & workability is great, they offer some level of forgivness as they are cavity backs. You can pick them up 2nd hand off ebay for about £80-120 (english pounds). There can't be that much difference between these and the CG2's, the bonus being you'll have a load left over for a driver/fairway/rescue/putter/wedge or what ever else you feel like tweeking.

r35 would those be hard to hit for a high handicaper?
When asked how to put back spin on a i7,
Trevino said how far do you hit it?
The guy said 120yds and Trevino said why do you want to back it up?

  7. FYI - the clevelands are not forged.

TM 300 can be had cheap on ebay in mint condition $250

I like the MP-60 also, but I would have liked to give the TM's a try since they are so cheap.

  8. If you need forged irons, I've got a set of vintage Hogan's that I'll let you have for a case of decent beer & a picture of a nekkid woman.

  9. Titty 735.CM or any Mizzy. I'm trying to wear my Hogans out so I can justify buying a set.

High handicapper....how high? If you're 12+, I recommend getting game improvement clubs. They'll help you so much more and give you great feel. Forged is nice, but there are plenty of good looking cavity backs out there that are better serving.

TM Rac OS's for example. I play with a guy that plays those to a 3 hdcp.
