Look at Scottys (that recommendation from me shouldn't shock too many folks). I don't have anything to offer right now, but PP Newport MidSlant, Studio Design and Studio Stainless models are in your range. Sonoma II's are not getting much love these days & you can shop up a newport TeI3 for a reasonable price.

If you don't like them, you'll almost always be able to get most (if not all) of your money back.

No offence to the Scorry fans, but you can great putters for a lot less money.Scotty Cameron as a brand carry a premium due to the market they are aimed at and as an implement for putting its difficult to justify the cost imho.A putter is a putter and all that matters is that the ball goes in the hole.A 25 yr old Anser for example will do the job for 5 dollars, its the shape copied so often by Titliest.

Just try everything imo,but if you get caught in the fancy brand bug,you may not improve your putting. You will end up with a lovely well made putter, which may make you feel good, but that won't neccessarily get the ball in the hole.If expensive putters worked all the time every pro would use one,but how many players at the Ryder Cup used one?

Just try them all.Ballesteros was one of the all time great putters and he used a putter made in 1974 throughiut his career. It was just a lump of bronze.

You see all sorts of putters on tour, this tells its own story.Get something that works for you,not just a brand, that means diddly squat on a green.

Check out this link.

A lot of pro's are indeed using Camerons. As far as Ryder Cup number, Tiger for sure and I saw at least 3 or 4 on the European team. I would provide a list, but my source website is not working at the moment. Mickelson, Toms, and Luke Donald all used to putt with Camerons until they changed sponsorships. Mickelson is putting with a prototype that Callaway made for him that is similar to the Scotty Del Mar he used to putt with. Toms is putting with a No Compromise copy of his old Scotty Newport (and yes, the Newport is a copy of the Anser, but the Anser is cast steel versus the milled blocks of steel that most Camerons are carved out of.) Luke Donald was putting with a Bettinardi copy of his Cameron (Bettinardi does mill their putters in a similar fashion to Cameron, but the price is very similar.)

Non-cuppers using Camerons off the top of my head: Ernie Els, DL3, Camilo Villegas, Lumpy, US Open winner Jeff Oglivy (add in Tiger's Open and PGA this year and Cameron took 3 out of 4 majors), Adam Scott, Jay Haas, and Brad Faxon. The list is a lot longer, but I am not going to reasearch it.

Camerons will not sink putts for you, but you can not beat the feel of a milled block of steel.

Try one. Just be warned, they can become addicting. I would never pay retail on a Cameron as they can be had slighty used or even new for around $200 or less on E-bay or GCE.

Even if you don't want a Cameron, check out some other milled putters to see how they feel. TP Mills, Bettinardi, and a few other main stream putter makers have made milled putters in the past so they can be found if you look hard enough. I have tried 2-balls, cast putters, insert putters, mallets, semi-mallets, bullseyes, and nothing I have put in my hands feels as good as my milled Camerons.

Oh yes you can,in fact,I thought the one I tried lacked any sort of feel at all.I use an old Ping Scottsdale Anser,a Beryllium copper head, and it knocks spots of any Cameron I have tried for feel.

As for being addictive, not for me they aren't.They are extremely well made, and as a toy,and being a man,I was captivated by the engineering,it just shouts 'buy me'.And I accept that confidence is important to putting, and yes changing putters can help. But every time someone asks what putter to buy,the ONLY advice is to go and try many of the putters in a shop. One will feel like you were born with it.Scotty Cameron are just one choice of many.Imho, they are nice putters but are just way over priced.

The best putters in history have used old bullseye heads in many cases, but being as good as they were they could have used anything.Same for Tiger,he uses an expensive Anser spin-off,but even if used a 25 yr old real thing, the original Anser,he would still be the best. The Cameron he uses has little if anything to do with it.

I'm not much of a fan of Cameron putters either, but there's no denying that they make good stuff.

Tiger won't waiver from his. Justin Leonard had a milled Cameron-esque Nike putter in his bag for a while and went back to his Cameron as of late (Seeing a trend here, Ez?....lol).

I am with dave on this, I think good putters can be had for 1/5th the cost of a Cameron. I'm not taking away anything from SC, as he makes great stuff. It's all just personal preference, and recommending one over another is pretty much bunk.

Does that apply to drivers and shafts as well?
