I'd just rather have them safe and sound in my shed...to replace it all including the custom shafts would be an incredible headache, very time consuming much less the expense as I have about $2300 invested in it all.
I don't mind bringing them round back of the house after playing...
Just don't leave them in the driveway and back over them..........
Sorry, Bravo, I could not resist.......
My clubs stay in the back of my Subaru Forester pretty much year round down here in Orlando, FL and have never had an over heated shaft/epoxy bond, yet. The only protection from the sun that they get is the roller sun shade/cover that I pull over them so they are hidden from view.
It could be the type of epoxy used or just a poor job of cleaning out the hosel prior to the shafting process that may have caused this issue. Depending on the type of expoxy, the temperature at which they start to break down changes. Fast dry epoxies break down at lower temperatures than long set epoxies, but I pretty much use the fast set times on my clubs and have not had a problem yet even down here in the heat of Florida.
My guess would be that it goes back to whomever put the clubhead on the shaft in the first place. If it was a second hand clubhead, it could have been the prior owner. I read a story about a clubmaker who was asked to reshaft Greg Norman's Wilson 8802 putter with the original shaft. After several attempts at the reshaft and head coming off again when used, the puzzled clubmaker admitted to Norman he was at his wits end and could not figure out why all of his efforts were continually resulting in a loose head. It was at that point that Norman revealed he had been pouring oil down the shaft on a regular basis to keep it from rusting from the inside out. Armed with the cause of the problem, the clubmaker was able to properly clean the hosel of the oil residue an keep the head attached to the shaft.
Hopefully the reshaft should solve your problem.
