Club Hoing

Since there have been many comments about club hoing, I was just curious what type of clubs most of the "hos" here are buying.

WBL, you don't have to answer, I know your flavor.

Me, I like scotty camerons. currently have 4 but always looking to add. My brother on the other hand will ho whatever he can. He's the true ho in my family, he'll ho, drivers, fw, irons, wedges, putters, balls you name it and he's got em.

As of late, Drivers. My tendancy over the years has been wedges, tho. I bet I've had 20 Cleveland wedges in my time.

Now, tell me again, why did I sell my Gunmetal 588 60* Tour wedge?

You name it and I have been hoing it, and while I have not been buying any wedges as of late, I have been looking at Mizuno's and Snake Eyes wedges.

I mostly ho'd drivers, until Warbirdlover bought them all up. I've gone through 9 in 19 months. The 905T that I have now is a keeper.

4 sets of irons in the same time frame: gave 1 set away to one of my assistants, sold one here on Shottalk, have one on a wall display, and I'm playing the last.

3 putters.....I just don't have the putter fever.

Wedges to match my irons....yawn.

Balls! I have about 400 balls in boxes in the back room. When I first started playing I would lose anywhere from 10 to 15 balls per round. So I bought a few used balls on Ebay: Titleist So-Lo, Wound 90, NXTs, then Callaway Hex Hots, then Hogan Hawks. Then distributors starting having sales on new balls so I have several dozen Noodles, Nike Power Soft, and ProV1s that I haven't unpacked yet, because now I don't lose as many.

Lately I've been a fairway wood ho. I just purchased a 980F 19 fairway wood last week and now will be selling since I just bought two 904Fs in a 17 and 22 at closeout price. This is after realizing Hybrids isn't my thing.

I'm glad I got over my Scotty Cameron addiction. Kept what I wanted, sold the ones I didn't want, and gave my ex-wife's putters to special people.

I was also a forged iron ho for awhile. Had lots of Hogans, Hagens, but stopped when Titleist came out with the 681.

Maybe I'm not really hoing. I just want what's best for the moment. I notice I stop buying when I am completely happy with what I'm using. And when I'm unhappy, I shop a little.

Atlgolfer, really!! Don't give me any ideas.

When we get together, please try my 905T. The Aldila VS Proto shaft is the smoothest I have ever tried. I don't think an elderly hacker like me can get more out of a driver than this one.

905T is that the 420cc driver? I buddy hits that as he's a "titliest" guy. I hit it ok but I don't like the muted sound, sounds dull to me. But, you can try my sq if you like.

Wedges and golf balls for me too.

Mitigating factors for the golf balls, having bought a load (and been bought a couple of boxes as presents) before I knew what I was doing, and they've been sat gathering dust ever since, but even now I always feel the need to buy a sleeve here or there whenever anything new comes out, as well as carry at least a dozen 'go to' Nike One Platinums in my bag at all times. I seriously reckon I muct carry about 40 'spares' in my bag at all times ranging from balls I found as I go round to contents of sleeves I fancy having a go with. I've no idea why, other than that I can't resist a bargain when I see one! I should just carry a dozen of the Nikes in there, as they're absolutely perfect for me.

Of course the one time I decided to be sensible and only pack a reasonable amount of balls for a game was on my trip to see family in Florida earlier this year - played a course with a ridiculous amount of water on it, had a bad day with my slice, and ended up running out and having to borrow some from my brother-in-law by the 15th!

I have a lot of wedges too, but that is under control. Aside from the 3 $30 Wilson wedges I bought for my first ever round (I suddenly realised the day before my first game that I didn't have a sand wedge of any description) I now have a great set of Titleist Vokeys that I can change depending on where I'm playing - all in oil can finish, going all the way through 48*, 50*, 52*, 54*, 56* and 58*. Currently playing the 50, 54 and 58, but will revert back to 48, 52 and 56 over the winter and spring...

Does anyone collect those golf course logo balls? I like to get one when I goto a new course. Some day, I'll have to get a display rack.
