Poor Man's Vokey Spin Milled

Just a thought. If some want a rougher finish on the surface of their wedges you can "bead (sand) blast" the face and I guarantee you it will be rougher. Don't do it on a good club until you try it on a "test" club first though.

Trust me WBL, it doesnt work that well, i tried in my metal shop class, the sand blasting wears extremely quickly, unless you have the time and equipment to do it once a week

Just take a chop saw and make more grooves, but don't cut too far!

Keep in mind that "playing" with surface roughness may render the wedge non-conforming under the Rules of Golf. The following is taken right off the USGA website. There is a fairly long disertation about modifying the face of any club, if one wants to read more.

When dealing with the surface roughness of a club face (not including putters, see Design of Clubs, Section 5f), the claims made by the manufacturer must be taken into account — especially if there is a claim that the roughness of the face influences the movement of the ball. In the absence of such claims, the ruling would be made purely on the amount of roughness in the impact area. Sandblasting or other treatments of roughness greater than 180 micro inches are not permitted. Additionally, milling is not permitted if the crest to trough depth exceeds 0.001 inches (0.025 mm). A reasonable toleranceis allowed for both of these measurements. Non-conforming sandblasting or milling usually feels rough to the touch.

If I were playing a tournament and observed someone using a wedge with what appeared to be altered grooves or a "homemade" surfacing, I would probably at least question them whether or not the club was conforming.

That's the point!

Hey, if Warbird and I fight, at least I know I'll be safe past 100 yards.
