Thread: Project X shafts?

  1. Project X shafts?

Well, it seems i have found them for $280 for 3-PW. Not a bad deal, has anybody played with them? There has to be a reason theyre so damn expensive. I think i would really like them in some MP-60's or MP-33's hmmmm winter hoing is coming methinks. Ive been basically slobering over grabbing 5 graman shafts for my driver, soon to be 3 wood, and 3 hybrids. Now i may have to snag some project X's for my 5-LW Anybody want to talk me out of this?

  3. Figure out what you want before dropping that dough. Project X is a low ballflight shaft and Black gold is a high.

    I can save you $3 more. http://www.swingsciencestore.com/rifle/projectx.htm

Everyone I know who has the X's say they have a very high ball flight, and my experience would agree. I also see no differance in them from my Black golds in terms of flight. For a low flight you cannot beat the True temper dynamic gold super lites. Lowest flight iron shaft i have ever hit.

Shows what I know. I'm just going by what the manufacturer's say... I also hit my old 690MB 6iron with DG s300's higher than my NS1050 shafted Miura PW. Go figure. I know on ShaftFit I get X100's if I enter low flight and BG-X for mid or high.

I'm with you there. Combo's in 3-7/8-PW would certainly challange for the bag.

Not really, Ezra and I share a similar feature(quite a few, oddly). We both swing easier with our irons, a softer swing that can work the ball easier, and more control.

Also I've noticed that I've had little problems with my iron-game this year.

Me too. Keeps the ball lower as well which is a bonus here.

  14. Is a 5.0 regular, a 6.0 stiff and a 6.5 x-stiff? I demoed a 5.0 set of Project X shafts with Nike CCi heads and the swing felt similar to my old Taylor Made Burner Tour with S-90 Rifle shafts in terms of stiffness. The ball flight was high and long. I was sold. The guy who owned the set said the Project X runs stiffer than the traditional Rifle shafts. He also mentioned that the fitter/builder suggested a 5.0 for clubheads with minimum offset. Is there any truth behind this?

I think they are a matter of taste.I don' t like the weight, the flight nor the thickness of the butt end,I can't get a grip on it small enough for me.Much prefer the S300s in terms of swingweight, the feel is [erfect and the flight is higher.
