You can stick your spin milled where the sun don't shine...

.....I have. I got a Callaway X tour 58 degree wedge with the 'Mack Daddy' grooves. It was the first time I used it today and the amount of spin it genarates is unbelievable. I only played 9 holes (on my come back from my back injury). The course is wet and the greens are very receptive, but my first shot with it was from about 20 yards. I hit it short about 15 yards and the ball hoped forwards once and spun back, yes spun back about 4 foot on a 15 yard shot. Me and my playing partner couldn't believe it. Only problem was I didn't play another good shot like that one for the rest of the round. I was trying to watch it before I'd hit it and only managed a series of thins or fat shots from there in.

Anyway a pair of Spin milled Vokeys are now surplus to requirements and are available for transfer (if anybody over here in the uk is intreasted)?

Ill have to check them out, I am a little curious if I could dial in my spin enough to be consistent with it. Did you notice any loss in distance with it? Backspin = distance loss. Anything greater than 10 yards would be killjoy for me.

Also, keep us updated as to the amount of control you still have over distance+spin on varying surface conditions.

It was my first round playing again after hurting my back. It's still feeling a little uncomfortable, i don't think it's ready for golf yet but I couldn't resist today. I didn't hit any full shots with any club but as soon as i'm up to speed i will keep you posted. I couldn't believe that shot though, normally with the same conditions and the same shot I'd expect one bounce and check/stop with my Vokey but it actually ripped backwards.

I'm gonna try to get to a links course this week or next week depending on the back. They're much firmer than my course at the moment because there built on sand so I will be able to play my short shots like i do in the spring/summer, back of the ball 1st, if i try that at our place now I take a huge divot and the ball goes nowhere.

The 'Mack Daddy' grooves are only available on the 58 and 60 degrees models. I think I may want them on my 52 degree gap wedge, What would happen to the bounce angle if you where to get a 58 degree lob wedge (11 degree bounce) and bend it down to 52 degree?

Ezra answered your question... and answered it quite correctly! But... Keep in mind as you strengthen the loft, you will also add offset. A couple of degrees... what the hey!!! 6 degrees??? Your Callaway will probably resemble one of my Ping Eye 2+'s!!! May not be a problem, but the offset will not allow the club to set up the same as your "stock" 58 degree.
Blessed to have a bag full of trustworthy friends who have provided this old man with hundreds of hours enjoying the great game of golf.

I would be more worried about what would happen when the hosel breaks and you get shrapnel in your eye from trying to bend it that far. Six degrees seems like a long way to be bending a club to me.

What Vokey SM's have you got ? I *could* be interested.

Btw, NOTHING spins more than the Titleists....

I played 18 again today and trust me this wedge spins more than the SM's, get a demo one out from your pro shop and try it if you don't believe me. I've never got the ball to back up on 1/4 to 1/2 swings with my SM's but it does it with the Mack Daddy, it's awesome but rips balls to pieces.

I played with a guy today and he was hitting the pitch shots with it and the ball wouldn't move an inch after bouncing. It was so amazing and it'd be lethal if you got accustomed to it
