Factory installed Aldila NV’s

Are the Taylor Made or other companies factory installed NV’s the same quality as the aftermarket NV’s.

Taylormade only had the NV as an option. They are real NV's as are the Graf blues, both were popular options in the R7 quad. Cobra has all "made for" shafts. Not sure if they play the same but I didn't like the Xspeed at all.

i found them to play a little different from club to club that named themselves on it, but the plain marketed NV in stock seemed like the aftermarket one. So pretty much differently coloured ones felt off to me, little whippier imo.

(i have an NV 65-S in my 983K which i used for about a year).

The "made-for" shafts, thats the name i was looking for.

The cobra NV's are one of the worst shafts ever, only the stock launcher shafts are worse.

The OEM made NV's and Graf Blues aren't the same. They're all over the place for flex and are often softer than stated on the shaft.

I hit a GBBII with a factory Graf Blue and it felt like a dead cod in my hands. My factory installed one was like a telephone poll. HUGE difference.

But the NV sucks anyways, you might as well get something with the stock shaft, then pull it and install something better.

Not if you're expecting a "Stiff" flex Grafalloy Blue. I bet that thing measured near senior flex.

Money well wasted.

I wonder if they change the properties during the installation process by using alternative tip trimming than the manufacturer states for the aftermarket shaft?

It seems to me that if they are selling a shaft as a premium shaft and your not getting what you were told you were buying, its a form of false advertising. (Not that any major OEM would do that )

They do. A bore thru plays stiffer to flex. Which means, for lack of a longer description, that it'll play more like a stiff.

For a standard bore, they install the real deal. I've heard from a number of sources that the shafts from an OEM tend to be all over the place for flex, whereas the aftermarket seem to be better. I can't say for certain, as I've never checked, but the Graf Blues that I hit in some Cally heads weren't the same feeling as mine installed in a Cally head, that's forsure.

False advertising? I dunno. Maybe chalk it up to naivity.

Some are not the same, or at least have the club manufacturer's name on them. The NV in my Adams A2 has Adams' name on it, Ping puts a 65 gram V2 Proto in their Rapture driver that isn't listed on Aldila's website, etc...

Remember that everythign will play soft in an R7 quad if it isnt tipped. The R7 quad has a large bottom bore to ground measurement thanks to a hosel depth of only 1 inch. Unless yo tip the shaft to compensate for this it will usually play a 1/2 to a full flex softer.
