Thread: Shaft recommendation for a FW

  1. Shaft recommendation for a FW

New member here. Looks like a great forum. Just thought I'd introduce myself and get a little input.

I'm 22 and used to be a lot more serious about golf back in high school. Then college came and between classes and working during the summer I haven't been able to play nearly as much as I would like. I'm hoping to get back into it more seriously in the spring and summer.

Anyways, I have a TM 200 series 4 wood and while I love the club, the shaft isn't getting the job done for me anymore. I have the stock S-90 steel shaft and it's too whippy for me. I'd like to get something a little stiffer that would bring my ball flight down some and enable me to hit penetrating shots instead of the high lazy floaters I currently hit.

I'm about a 7 handicap but I don't have much knowledge about current equipment or my swing as it's been awhile. The last time I had my speed checked was about 4 years ago and I was at 102-103 then so I'm guessing now I'm around 107 or so. I don't have a lot of experience with different shafts. I normally just buy clubs and then get used to them. I play DGS300's in my irons and those seem like a pretty good fit.

I'd like to keep a steel shaft in my FW. I was thinking the DGS300 but I like the weight of my club now and I'm guessing that shaft is heavier than the one I have currently. Also thinking the DG SL might be a good fit. Anybody have any experience with it?

Thanks for your help and hello to everyone.

Great clubhead you have there. A cheap shaft would be to just throw in an s300, you are right on the edge of X100 and those S-90's were a little light and whippy but not sure what they CPM'd at maybe LyleG knows.

  3. here is the matching wood shaft for the S300 iron shafts. Weight is adjusted so the wood version still feels like the irons.

    Good price to.

  4. I have that shaft in my 3,4 and 5woods, all 200Steels. The 5 seems to have that high ballflight but the 3 and 4 are more boring. I also tend to deloft a bit so that could make a difference. I was considering Project X fairway shafts. They run around $40.
