Tip Size

I thought all Titleist woods are/were .335? I got that BiMatrix shaft and left it with the shop, and all the sudden he calls me today saying its the wrong tip size, that my driver (905S) is .350?!?

If this is true im guna be pretty pissed, but im goin to tomorrow to check it out for myself. If it is true, is there anyway to safely have the .335 shaft in a .350 head?

Yes, just use a brass shim and it will work fine. The clubmaker should know this. It is common practice.

Agreed.

My shop would have just shimmed it up and let me know when I picked it up.

I would severely question the ability of these guys if they called you on this.

Especially when the 905s definately uses a .335 tip shaft.
He most likely pulled the aluminum sleeve when pulling the old shaft. The shaft cannot be replaced unless a new sleeve is installed. The only place I know of to get these is from billy bob's golf through myostrich. They are $14 a piece.

Yea, they told me about the aluminum sleeve (they said only Titleist has them....right..), they told me it needed a shim, i said i knew that because all bore through drivers have a little shim in them anywayz... Im just guna grab the club and bring it to GolfTown, i knew they could just put a shim in and be np at all, theyre excuse was that because its a steel tip...? They also couldnt figure out how to turn my putter grip a few degrees?! While the other shop ive been to was even able to save my grips when putting extentions in my clubs....

Some ppl.... urg... Put me through all this....

Thx a lot, i knew that it wasnt the case, thx for the clear up.

BTW, the guy is english

So am I, partly.

What the hell does that have to do with it? English or not, he's still an idiot.

What's more, you can do alot of this stuff yourself and save a ton of cash.

Don't go given him any ideas, Rock. He might be moving into my neck of the woods later this year and I need some disposable income...

Yes, only Titleist uses the aluminum sleeve and ou cannot use a shim in place of the aluminum sleeve. You must replace the sleeve or you will damage the head. Also, in regards to your other comment. Borethroughs do not need to be shimmed. Most have a special propriatary ferrule that is used. Use a bore pin to finish the tip.

You'd think his shop would know this.

Piper, are you getting your work done at Rona?

We used to have a Beaver here, but they closed. Too bad, because those guys knew their shit. Now, you gotta go to Home Depot or Rona to get lumber that isn't in bulk, which sorta sucks donkey.

There are smaller guys that will sell piece lumber, but more for woodworking than straight lumber.

I bet the guys at Beaver could reshaft a 905.
