Iron Pickup - RAC CB

Now I'm confused.

My 2004 TaylorMade RAC CB forged were delivered today. They are sweet!

On to confusion. I've got no business with these irons. Everything I've read says that these are a fairly demanding players iron. I've got a perfectly good set of Lt2's in the bag and I'm no "player". I'm right around a 13 right now, so it's apparent that the CB's are way over my head.

They were just so pretty... I couldn't resist. Bought them without ever hitting one. I just wanted to see what it was like hitting a Miura forged club. So I tore them out of the box, and went down to the range and after warming up, hit the LT2's loft against loft with the CB's. I just knew that I was going to lose distance, dispersion, and would probably whiff a few with the smaller faces. Nevertheless, a faithful soldier must trudge on...

So why the hell did I hit them so well????

We're not talking a little better here, folks. We're talking night and day. Solid hits, beautiful trajectory, great distance, more consistency across the board. I was even striping the 4 iron!

Anyone want a perfectly good set of LT2's? 5 rounds, and some range time. They're gone. It's done. And I'm officially done reading about what level of player should play which irons.

JP

The suggested lvl of player for clubs is an "ideal". I absolutely love these irons (although i have the combo set with the MB's 7-pw).

Beautiful irons, great pickup!

When you say Rac CB's, are you referring to the TP's?

I tried those out at a golf shop. They felt great. Almost as good as the mizuno and titleist mb's. I would definitely consider those clubs for my next upgrade.

The MB's are the blades, no? I don't think he's confusing CB's with MB's. Or maybe he is.

PICS PLEASE!

Those are the ones, beautiful. I kind of know how you feel. It took me a little while to get used to my Miura's and I'm sure there are a few threads complaining from back then. Very similar to what you have there. Once I adjusted to them I have never looked back. My iron play got a lot more solid and I started out hitting a lot of par 3 greens. Then I started hitting more and more par 4 greens. Now I have the utmost confidende I will hit the green inside 200yds., a solidly struck shot is just a given in my mind.

Good luck with them, they look awesome. How much did you get them for? Under $500 is a steal and under $600 is a good deal.

Well, I hit them again at lunch, and I can hardly feel the ball come off of the face. I've got a touch of right to left going on, but I've been adjusting my plane & am sure that's what is going on. So, I'm adjusted

How much? UmmmmErrrrrAhhh.....

Wow. That's an awesome deal. Beautiful clubs. Those are the nicest irons TM has made IMO. If I were to switch from mine, those would be in my top 3 choices. Good luck and enjoy.

They are truely great irons, although i have those only 6-2 irons, then the MBs in the shorts. They are such solid/soft feeling irons, and even though theyre so soft, theyre still fairly durable for a forged club.

There are some great deals on them out there too, i got my set last october for 450ish.

You can see the similarities to the Miura CB-201's. If you come across some of the pics I've posted of mine in the photo gallery up top you can see. I'd love to hit them and see how close they really are to each other.
