New Sack

I acquired a new stand / cart bag at the end of the summer as the zip on my old Talor Made finally gave up the ghost. I ended up going for a Bag Boy and was fairly impressed with it. Lots of storage room, good rain protection, good strap. Sold well by young Andrew!

3 months into "life carrying IG's sticks" and the poor sack starts to struggle, with the stand coming away from the base. Not happy! So I brought the bag back to our pro to see what could be done.

Bag Boy has a no quibbles 1 year warranty, either to repair or replace. Now I am not a design engineer, but even I could tell that the stand attachment was never going to be permanently fixed back on that bag. So I was hoping not to hear that they would try and fix it.

That was a few weeks ago and when I went to see the pro at the weekend, he said that he had contacted the Bag Boy rep. Bag Boy knew about the design fault and were happy to offer up a credit note.

I was happy with Bag Boy (especially the customer service) and I would have got another bag, but the pro didn't have any more in sotck. So looking around the stock in the shop I opted for a ....

...in black. Seems nice, although storage space is a bit limited. Will let you know how I get on with it.

Sweet...how did you swing that? Hope you get a good day. Scenery on front nine is breathtaking on a good day. Some crackin' holes. Only drawback is a lot of blind tee shots. Also watch out for their bunkers. They are left "au naturale" if you get my drift.

Looks absolutely identical to mine and I wonder if they changed the name for Euro sales. Anyway, mine has lasted 2 seasons, around 150 rounds, all carrying. It is ripping on top of the dividers and the plastic rods between them are coming out. I've alread pulled out 3 of them and threw them out. Clubs get a bit tangled up in the bottom but other than that I have no complaints. Strap and legs have held up well. All except for one of the rubber cleats on the bottom of one leg that came off after a month. I never bothered to try to fix it, it doens't hurt anything.

It seems to have plenty of space for me. The clubs are a little tight but the pockets are ample. I put my keys and phone in that top pocket which is lined. I use the longer side pocket for my glove (s) and a jacket or extra shirt. The other side I use for drinks and it is easily accessed while carrying the bag. Then the double front pouches are obviously for balls and tees. I'll be buying an Ogio next and can only hope it is as good as the Mizuno.

Oh, one other thing. The clubs stay very tight in the bag. I hardly ever hear a noise at all. This is good as I have like no bag chatter, even after a near full season with the Miura's. I wouldn't dream of putting iron covers on. Someone might mistake me for a Canadian pretty boy.

I am also very glad this thread was not what I first thought... I kind of figured scrotum replacement surgery was a little far fetched. Then again, is in the right category, equipment talk.

And considering IG's reputation it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the title of this thread.

Nice pick up, Marko. See what buying stuff off me gets ya, eh !?

Dave: Happy days, old bean. You will undoubtedly enjoy that place - it is very special indeed, just disrupted somewhat by the poncey club members I shall keep my fingers crossed you get a relatively decent and not too windy day...!

Cool Ez, happy with your review, have yet to carry it in anger. Last time I played with a new bag I shot a 68. Whadyareckon?

Cheers Andy ..yeah I can't wait .. one of the guys operates a bottled gas franchise ... RCD is a customer of theirs ... intel was passed, secret handshakes and rolled up trouser legs has ensured that 16 of us get out on the 16th Feb for the princely sum of €100 !!!

Yeah we were made aware of the "poncey members" .. 2 brothers, low h/c's from The Island make an annual pilgrimmage up there and it says a lot for how special an experience it is for them that they tolerate the stuffiness of the club

Couldn't care less about the weather so long as it doesn't chuck it down ... played yer place in 40mph crosswinds ... so bring it on !! ... pics will be an absolute must ..

They're as sweet a club when coming off the centre of the clubface ... smaller heads reduce the margins tho .. have felt a few "toey" ones ... jury is out on distances at the moment with the cold air .. but I do have a nagging feeling like you said that they will take a little extra hitting ...

Was it you that picked up the Epon's? I'd love to see some pics of those... even a little review.
